Catcher Gary Sanchez cracked 4 homeruns and had 6 RBI and Dallas Keuchel
struck out 10 batters at Camden Yards where the New York (AL) Yankees beat
the dreadful Baltimore Orioles by the score of 9 to 6.
Sanchez was unconscious all day. The Baltimore fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He clubbed
a three-run home run in the 1st inning, blasted a solo shot in the 3rd
inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 5th inning and ripped a solo home run
in the 9th inning. New York (AL) had 16 hits for the afternoon while
Baltimore had 9.
Keuchel(6-12) allowed 5 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Yusei
Kikuchi(6-14) was the loser. He was touched for 5 homeruns in his 6 and 2/3
innings of work.
Baltimore's manager was impressed with Keuchel and his 10 strikeouts. 'It's
tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'

In an exciting finish the Boston Red Sox pulled out a win over the Detroit
Tigers by a score of 3 to 2 at Fenway Park.
The deciding run was scored by Boston in the bottom of the 9th. Michael
Chavis smashed a solo-shot out of the park giving Boston the win much to the
delight of the home town crowd. Detroit was out-hit by Boston, 9 hits to 4.
The winning pitcher was Marcus Walden(4-4) who allowed no runs in 2 innings.
Blaine Hardy(1-3) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 3 hits
in 2 innings.
MIAMI AT PHILADELPHIA

Center fielder Raimel Tapia had 3 base hits as the Miami Marlins defeated the
Philadelphia Phillies in 12 innings by a score of 8 to 4 at Citizens Bank
Park.
The game was deadlocked at 4 after nine full innings. Finally, Miami
prevailed in the 12th inning. The key offensive moment was provided by Brian
Anderson who silenced Citizens Bank Park as he cleared the fences for a
two-run home run. Miami banged out 9 hits on the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Zack Wheeler(15-6) who went 2 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Wheeler got help from Tyler Webb who earned his 3rd save.
Julio Urias(6-6) was given the loss in relief. He gave up 4 runs in 2 and
2/3 innings of work.

Felix Hernandez went 7 solid innings at Miller Park as the Los Angeles(NL)
Dodgers beat the hapless Milwaukee Brewers by the count of 4 to

Hernandez(4-3) looked very much in control throughout the day. He didn't
allow much, just 3 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Los Angeles(NL) finished
with just 5 hits in the victory.
Yonny Chirinos(10-17) was charged with the loss. He was stingy with the
baserunners, allowing just 2 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings.

The dominant Atlanta Braves put 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 8th inning and
had an easy time of it at SunTrust Park defeating the New York (NL) Mets by a
score of 7 to 2.
New York (NL) was unable to recover after Atlanta went ahead in the bottom of
the 2nd inning when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. For the game Atlanta
out-hit New York (NL) 10 to 6.
Kyle Hendricks(14-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Alex Colome recorded his 23rd save. Wade Miley(5-13) ended
up with the loss.
With this win, Atlanta has a division leading 94-50 record. They have been
5-5 lately. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, New York (NL) is 2-8
of late and now has an overall record of 52-92.

Jeff Samardzija(10-11), with relief help from Brandon Workman, shut-down San
Francisco in an evening game. The very strong St. Louis Cardinals scored 6
runs in a winning effort at AT&T Park.
The game started off with St. Louis taking the lead in the first plating an
isolated run on 2 base hits. Trea Turner stroked a single. Kolten Wong was
next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. Luke Voit then stroked a one-base
hit scoring the run. That was all Samardzija needed. St. Louis out-hit San
Francisco for the game, 12 hits to 5.
Shaun Anderson(5-10) was the losing pitcher. St. Louis now has a record of a
division leading 96-48. San Francisco has a record of 52-92, worst in the
division after the loss.

Jesse Chavez delivered 3 and one third solid innings as the Los Angeles(AL)
Angels defeated the woeful Houston Astros 6 to 2 at Angel Stadium.
Los Angeles(AL) took the lead off Jhoulys Chacin in the first inning scoring 4
runners on 2 hits. That early scoring was all that Griffin Canning(9-5)
needed. Canning was helped out by Chavez who pitched a perfect ninth and
recorded his 3rd save.
Chacin(8-13) was given the loss. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and surrendered
2 hits and 2 walks.
CHICAGO (NL) AT COLORADO

The Colorado Rockies and the Chicago (NL) Cubs locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Coors Field. The final score was the Colorado Rockies 8, the
Chicago (NL) Cubs 7.
Chicago (NL) lost it in the 7th inning when Colorado did all their damage as
they showed no mercy on Chicago (NL) blasting them for 8 hits and plating 8
runs. The big moment was provided by Nolan Arenado who thrilled the crowd
when he smashed a two-run homer. Chicago (NL) tried unsuccessfully to come
back in the 9th.
Jesus Tinoco(7-2) got the win allowing 2 runs in 2 innings. Scott Oberg earned
the save, his 29th. Bryan Shaw(7-4) took the loss in relief. He gave up 5
hits and no walks in 1 inning.
Wth the win Colorado now has a record of 95-51. With this loss, Chicago (NL)
has a 5-5 record of late, 65-79 overall.

Second baseman Ildemaro Vargas lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 2 RBI
as the phenomenal Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the San Diego Padres 7 to 4
at PETCO Park.
Arizona jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they came up
with 3 runs on 4 hits. The big moment was provided by Vargas who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he bombed a two-run dinger. San Diego
had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Anibal Sanchez(12-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Kyle
Freeland(9-8) was the loser. 'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and
we lose the game.' San Diego's manager said after the game. 'Maybe now these
guys will listen when I say they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'
OAKLAND AT KANSAS CITY

Center fielder Mark Canha had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Kauffman Stadium as the
streaking Oakland Athletics beat the Kansas City Royals by the count of 11 to
5.
Canha had a big day against Kansas City. He doubled scoring a run in the 3rd
inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 5th inning,
doubled in the 7th inning and doubled in the 9th inning. Oakland kept the
pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
Tyler Skaggs(9-2) went 5 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Andrew
Chafin recorded his 2nd save. The losing pitcher was Zack Godley(3-13). He
gave up 7 runs in 4 innings of work.
'I had a big day, but there's a lot of credit to go around' Canha said. 'We
played well together as a team.'

Jacob Degrom racked up an impressive total of 11 strikeouts and Nelson Cruz
had 2 base hits at Globe Life Park as the spectacular Seattle Mariners pulled
off a dramatic comeback beating the Texas Rangers by the count of 6 to
5.
Seattle scored the winning runs in the top of the 9th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Alex Bregman got things going when he drew a walk.
Cruz followed and he ripped a base-knock. Cody Bellinger then launched a
three-run homer. Degrom(20-7) got relief help from Ken Giles who was
excellent in relief and gained credit for his 24th save.
Roenis Elias(1-7) was charged with the loss in relief. Seattle's manager was
all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a
beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could
have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes
baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til
its over.'
