with Agrazal and the spectacular Pittsburgh Pirates coming out on top of the
floundering Milwaukee Brewers 3 to 1.
The game started off with Pittsburgh taking the lead in the first plating one
baserunner on 2 hits. Pittsburgh banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.
Kirby Yates earned the save, his 38th. In another of a string of victories,
Pittsburgh extended their winning streak to 6 games.

In a great finish the Colorado Rockies came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the New York (NL) Mets by a score of 4 to 3 at Citi
Field.
Colorado scored the decisive runs in a big top of the 9th inning scoring 2
runs using 2 hits. After an out was recorded, J.T. Realmuto began the
Colorado spurt when he drew a walk. Kevin Pillar followed next and he
doubled resulting in a run. Joe Panik then ripped a base-knock scoring the
final run of the inning. Colorado had a total of 8 hits for the game.
The victory was credited to Ryne Stanek(2-2) who went 1 inning, allowing no
runs. Stanek was helped out by Sam Dyson who recorded his 5th save. Paul
Sewald(0-1) was given the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a batter
and surrendered 1 hit and no walks.
New York (NL)'s manager was not very talkative after his team's tough loss.
'I'm not in the mood for questions, but I'm sure Colorado's manager will be
glad to talk about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

Cam Bedrosian(3-3) was the winner as incredible St. Louis Cardinals shutout
the Philadelphia Phillies by a 6 to 0 score at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis took the lead for good in the 2nd inning as they scored 2 runs on 2
base hits. The key at-bat was by Eduardo Escobar who excited the crowd when
he smashed a two-run homer. St. Louis had 8 hits for the game and
Philadelphia had 5.
Bedrosian got relief help from Tyler Clippard who gained credit for his 3rd
save. Caleb Smith(2-7) ended up with the loss. Although losing the contest,
he whiffed 8 batters in 5 innings.
ATLANTA AT WASHINGTON

Garrett Cooper hit a homerun and had 4 RBI at Nationals Park as the Washington
Nationals came back dramatically to top the Atlanta Braves by the score of 8
to 6.
Washington won the game with a rally in the 9th inning plating 3 runs using 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Cooper got things rolling when he drew a
walk. Starlin Castro stepped into the batter's box and he delivered a
one-base hit. After another out, Alex Colome was wild with a pitch. Victor
Robles was up next and he lofted a three-run bomb giving Washington the win
and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Atlanta was out-hit by
Washington, 10 hits to 7.
Josh Hader(3-5) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory.
Colome(6-5) was hit with the loss in relief. 'Now that is what I call fun! I
just love baseball, especially games like this, of course,' Washington's
manager offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great time - did you see the
fans go wild there at the end?!'

Matt Chapman launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Matt Boyd had a strong
outing as the Toronto Blue Jays really laid it on the Detroit Tigers 17 to
2.
Chapman had a great evening at the plate. He had the crowd cheering his every
move. He ripped a solo home run in the 4th inning, doubled in the 5th inning
and rifled a three-run blast in the 6th inning. Toronto kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 5th inning when they had 4 runs on 5 hits and the
7th inning with 7 runs on 4 hits. Toronto dominated offensively as they
scored in 6 different innings.
Boyd(18-8) was the winner allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Wade Leblanc(4-4)
suffered the loss. He surrended 4 homeruns in his 4 and 2/3 innings.

Lourdes Gurriel ripped 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Houston Astros were
badly beaten by the Miami Marlins, 13 to 3.
Gurriel was unconscious all evening. The Houston fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He doubled
in the 1st inning, delivered a single in the 3rd inning, lost the ball over
the fence for three runs in the 5th inning, lined a one-base hit which plated
a run in the 6th inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 9th inning. Miami
ended up with 17 hits for the game while Houston had 4.
Zack Wheeler(14-6) got the win allowing 3 runs in 8 innings. Wei-Yin Chen(2-4)
was charged with the loss in relief. 'Gurriel led the way - we just jumped
on his back and let him take us,' Wheeler said. 'I'm glad I don't have to
face him. I'm glad he's on my team.'

It was a laugher out at Angel Stadium. The Texas Rangers squad ripped Los
Angeles(AL) pitching for a total of 11 runs. Ariel Jurado(5-16), with relief
help from Alex Claudio, held Los Angeles(AL) to 1 run.
Nick Williams was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors. He doubled clearing the bases
in the 5th inning, laced a base-hit in the 7th inning and doubled knocking in
a run in the 8th inning. Texas had 12 hits for the night while Los
Angeles(AL) had 6.
Claudio gained credit for his 2nd save. Antonio Senzatela(7-7) was tagged
with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 5 runs in 4 and 2/3
innings.

Jason Kipnis had 4 hits as the San Francisco Giants defeated the San Diego
Padres 9 to 3 at PETCO Park.
Asher Wojciechowski(6-13) pitched well enough to earn the win. He was reached
for 5 hits and 4 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings and gave up 2 homeruns. For the
game San Francisco out-hit San Diego 12 to 6.
The losing pitcher was Dinelson Lamet(4-2). He got hammered, allowing 7 hits
and 3 walks in 4 innings. Wth the win San Francisco now has a record of
49-91. With this loss, San Diego has a 5-5 record of late, 77-63 overall.

Jose Altuve added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one swing of the bat
as the Tampa Bay Rays smashed the overmatched Chicago (AL) White Sox, 14 to

Altuve provided much of the offense. He doubled in the 3rd inning and
launched a rocket-shot out of the park for a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th
inning. Tampa Bay ended up with 11 hits for the game while Chicago (AL) had
3.
The win went to Martin Perez(10-4) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Jose
Quintana(11-11) took the loss. Tampa Bay scored big getting 5 runs off him
in 2 innings.
Tampa Bay now has a record of a division leading 88-52. With this loss,
Chicago (AL) has a 7-3 record of late, 74-66 overall.

What a day for the Cleveland Indians! They shellacked the Minnesota Twins
pitching for 8 runs while Danny Duffy(11-9), with relief help from Mike
Morin, mystified Minnesota.
Francisco Lindor provided the offensive punch. He slapped a single in the 1st
inning, clubbed a three-run home run in the 4th inning and doubled which
plated a run in the 7th inning. Cleveland ended up with 11 hits for the game
while Minnesota had 4.
Marco Gonzales(10-11) absorbed the loss. Cleveland scored big getting 5 runs
off him in 4 and 2/3 innings.
