In a dramatic ending at Citizens Bank Park the Philadelphia Phillies won in
their last at-bat beating the Atlanta Braves by the count of 5 to 4.
The game was won by Philadelphia with a run in the 9th inning. After an out
was recorded, Avisail Garcia lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' making
Philadelphia victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd.
Philadelphia finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
Brad Hand(1-9) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Jerry Blevins(0-5) was the loser in relief.

Jairo Diaz(4-0) earned the victory with a fine relief performance. He did not
allow a baserunner in his 2/3 of an inning. This was the kind of game that
many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
Roberto Osuna earned his 24th save. Nick Goody(7-6) ended up with the loss in
relief. Toronto scored big getting 3 runs off him in 2 and 1/3 innings.

Yu Darvish reeled off a total of 13 strikeouts at Tropicana Field where the
red-hot Tampa Bay Rays beat the Boston Red Sox 4 to 1.
Darvish(20-7) contributed a very nicely pitched game. He didn't give up much,
just 3 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. Boston proved to be no trouble
in the 9th.
David Phelps was credited with his 3rd save. Tyson Ross(3-6) was given the
loss. He allowed 3 hits and 5 walks in 5 and 1/3 innings.
Darvish was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on my
pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really got
into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that again
in my next outing.'

Rougned Odor ripped 2 homeruns as the Texas Rangers outscored the New York

Odor enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He ripped a base-hit in the 1st
inning, blasted a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning and smashed a
solo-shot out of the park in the 9th inning. Texas and New York (NL) each
finished the night with 10 hits.
Jacob Waguespack(1-6) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Roenis Elias recorded his 15th save. Tyler Bashlor(0-1) suffered
the loss in relief.

Luis Castillo went 8 strong innings as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the St.
Louis Cardinals by the score of 2 to 1 at Great American Bpk.
Cincinnati took the lead for good in the bottom of the 7th inning scoring a
single run. The game was a scoreless duel until the 7th inning.
The victory went to Castillo(8-10) who went 8 innings, allowing no runs.
Castillo was helped out by Liam Hendriks who recorded his 5th save. The loss
was charged to Gerrit Cole(17-7). He struck out 10 batters in 7 innings
despite losing the game.

Designated hitter Nate Lowe rocketed 2 homeruns at Target Field as the Detroit
Tigers won in dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Minnesota Twins by the
count of 10 to 5.
Detroit came up with the deciding runs in the top of the 9th inning when they
came up with 6 runs on 5 hits. The highlight belonged to Harold Castro who
quieted the home crowd when he doubled clearing all three ducks off the pond.
Detroit finished with 12 hits in the victory.
The win was credited to Logan Allen(3-2) who went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing 2
runs. Ryne Harper(3-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run in 1/3
of an inning and saw his ERA jump from 4.97 to 5.22.
Minnesota's manager was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm
not in the mood for questions, but I'm sure Detroit's manager will be glad to
talk about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

Manny Machado had 2 base hits and Chaz Roe quieted any hopes that Houston may
have had of a comeback as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the slumping Houston
Astros by a score of 4 to 3 at Minute Maid Park.
Baltimore scored all of the necessary runs in the 7th inning as they scored 4
runs on 5 base hits. The critical plate appearance was by Jonathan Schoop
who silenced Minute Maid Park as he cleared the bases with a Grand Slam
homerun. Houston was retired without difficulty in the bottom of the 9th.
Paul Fry(6-5) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Roe earned
the save, his 7th. Framber Valdez(5-5) was hit with the loss in relief.

45,514 fans watched an exciting game at Chase Field. The impressive Arizona
Diamondbacks topped the San Diego Padres by the slimmest of margins, 3 to
2.
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Arizona came out on top
in the 12th inning. Eloy Jimenez delivered a single. Charlie Blackmon
stepped into the batter's box and he stroked a one-base hit. After an out
was recorded, C.J. Cron was hit by a pitch. Mike Moustakas followed and he
drew a walk making Arizona the winners and sending the 45,514 fans home
happy. San Diego was out-hit by Arizona, 10 hits to 7.
Aroldis Chapman(8-5) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. The loss
was charged to Matt Wisler(6-9) in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
allowing 2 hits and 1 walk.

they scored 4 runs on 4 hits. The highlight belonged to Jason Kipnis who
silenced the stadium when he depressed the partisan hometown fans with a
grand slam home run. Robert Stephenson was perfect in relief and gained
credit for his 11th save.
The win was credited to Josh Osich(5-5) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Fernando Rodney(3-6) was the loser in relief. San Francisco's manager was
all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your last at bats, is a
beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out there? You could
have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey, that's what makes
baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says, 'it's not over 'til
its over.'

First baseman Francisco Cervelli slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI and Ranger
Suarez went 4 solid innings at Nationals Park as the Miami Marlins beat the

Miami jumped on top of Washington in the 4th inning when they scored 3 runs on
4 hits. The big moment was provided by Cervelli who quieted the home crowd
when he clubbed a three-run home run. Miami had 18 hits for the night while
Washington had 8.
Suarez(6-2) was the winner allowing no runs in 4 innings. Elieser Hernandez
gained credit for his 3rd save. Reynaldo Lopez(4-19) was hit with the loss.
He allowed 3 homeruns in 5 innings of work.

City in an evening game. The Chicago (AL) White Sox scored 5 runs in a
winning effort at Guaranteed Rate Fld.
Chicago (AL) claimed the early lead in the first inning scoring 3 runs on 2
base hits. Delino Deshields led off and started the rally when he drew a
walk. After an out was recorded, Trey Mancini stepped up to the plate and he
drew a walk. Paul Goldschmidt then delivered a one-base hit bringing in a
run. Goldschmidt took second on the throw. Harold Ramirez followed next and
he doubled which accounted for two additional runs. That early scoring was
all that Quintana needed. Both teams totaled 9 hits on the night.
Zack Godley(3-15) was charged with the loss. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
allowing 2 hits and 3 walks.

perfect ninth and was credited with his 41st save.

In a game for the baseball purist, Jacob Degrom(22-7) and Danny Duffy(12-10)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, Seattle Mariners finally emerged
victorious over Cleveland Indians, 2 to 0.
Cleveland never recovered after Seattle took the lead in the bottom of the 3rd
inning scoring one runner. After two outs Christian Yelich hit a bases-empty
home run. That early run support was enough for Degrom and Seattle. Seattle
had just 6 hits for the night.
