very productive in the 4th inning with 4 runs on 4 hits. Pittsburgh had 20

But, I had great support behind me and I just threw what was called. That
was an extremely well called game!'

The smoking-hot Tampa Bay Rays nipped the pathetic Boston Red Sox 5 to 4 at

Tampa Bay scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning. The key at-bat was
by Eugenio Suarez who came through for the home fans when he belted a
three-run homer. Boston made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.
Adam Conley(1-4) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. Diego
Castillo earned his 7th save. Luke Bard(2-5) was hit with the loss in
relief.
Tampa Bay continued on their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 7
games and counting. Tampa Bay's manager was in a talkative mood after the
ballgame. 'Fellows, I don't know what to tell you. our guys are just playing
lights out lately. Everything and everybody is just really hitting on all
cylinders. I know it can't last forever - but that isn't going to stop us
from trying!'

The winning pitcher was Andrew Cashner(9-17) who allowed 3 runs in 6 and 2/3
innings. Mike Wright was credited with his 4th save. Domingo German(9-13)
was the losing pitcher.
Miami's manager was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is
really hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it
is easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just
barely get away that hurt so much - like this one!'

separated the combatants at game's end. The Minnesota Twins won by the
slimmest of margins, 7 to 6.
Texas was unable to claim the lead after Minnesota went ahead in the bottom of
the 5th inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 3 base hits. Jesse Winker opened up
the inning nicely when he lashed a single. Two outs later Byron Buxton came
to bat and stroked a one-base hit. Jose Peraza then clubbed a three-run home
run. Minnesota and Texas each finished the night with 8 hits.
The win was credited to German Marquez(15-9) who went 7 and 1/3 innings
allowing 6 runs. Sean Doolittle gained credit for his 6th save. Junior
Guerra(4-3) was charged with the loss in relief. By giving up 4 runs in 3

'I had a little blister on my index finger before the game, but I thought it
was nothing.' Marquez said. 'I was lucky I got a win because I couldn't put
the ball where I wanted it.'

Mike Tauchman had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Charlie Morton reeled off a total
of 11 strikeouts at Miller Park where the phenomenal Atlanta Braves beat the
pitiful Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 5 to 1.
Morton(15-6) was in control of the game from the outset. He was stingy on the
mound, allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings. Atlanta out-hit
Milwaukee for the game, 10 hits to 5.
Brad Keller(8-21) was tagged with the loss. Morton was pleased with his

win over the floundering Houston Astros by a score of 7 to 6 at Minute Maid
Park.
Baltimore scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 3 runs on 2 base
hits. After an out was recorded, Victor Reyes keyed the rally when he hit a
single. Joey Rickard was the next batter, but he struck out. Miguel Cabrera
then drew a walk. Chris Taylor stepped in and he lost the ball over the
fence for three runs. Houston out-hit Baltimore 9 to 6, but Baltimore ended
up with more runs.

victory. Sean Newcomb(2-3) was charged with the loss in relief. He was
unable to retire a batter and surrendered 1 hit and no walks.
Houston's manager was understandably not very talkative after his team's tough
loss. He quickly showered and changed and when asked about the game had a
terse, yet polite response, 'Hey fellows, that game was a heart-breaker to
lose. Our guys gave it their all and played well - fate just wasn't smilin'
on us tonight'
