bested the Kansas City Royals 5 to 0 at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis jumped on top of Kansas City in the bottom of the 4th inning plating
an isolated run. Both teams finished the game with 4 hits.
Ryu(14-6) was credited with the shutout, his first of the year. Dylan
Bundy(7-14) was charged with the loss. He pitched 7 innings and surrendered
just 2 hits and 1 walk.
'Ryu was the man today,' St. Louis' manager said. 'He had just about every
pitch working.'

Red Sox defeated the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 5 to 2 at Great American
Bpk.
Inciarte led the offense for Boston. He lifted one out of the park for a two
run home run in the 3rd inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 5th
inning. Boston finished with 7 hits in the victory.
Jeremy Hellickson(3-7) got the win allowing 2 runs in 7 innings. Matt Barnes
earned his 12th save. Justin Verlander(15-7) was given the loss. He allowed
3 homeruns in 7 innings of work.

on 8 hits. Baltimore finished with 21 hits while Washington ended up with
16.
Mike Minor(12-13) went 6 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Kevin
Gausman(3-9) suffered the loss. Baltimore now has a record of 54-97.

had 7 hits for the night.

fine pitching duel at Tropicana Field. The Tampa Bay Rays eventually emerged
as victors over the New York (AL) Yankees by the score of 3 to
1.
Syndergaard earned his pay with a solid performance for Tampa Bay. He
surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Both teams' bats went
to sleep after the 3rd inning with no runs scored after that point.
Nick Anderson was credited with his 12th save. Tampa Bay extended their
winning streak to 6 games. Tampa Bay's manager was in a talkative mood after
the ballgame. 'Fellows, I don't know what to tell you. our guys are just
playing lights out lately. Everything and everybody is just really hitting
on all cylinders. I know it can't last forever - but that isn't going to

Miami erupted with the game winning runs in the 9th inning plating 2 runs
utilizing 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Adam Haseley got things
rolling when he blasted a solo shot. After another out, Nick Wittgren came
to bat and stroked a single, and an error was also committed. Soto then
slapped a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Miami out-hit
New York (NL) for the game, 9 hits to 5.
The win went to Wittgren(6-7) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. The losing
pitcher was Robert Gsellman(6-8) in relief. The Miami ballclub's record now
stands at 70-82. With this loss, New York (NL) has a 3-7 record of late,

Madison Bumgarner mowed down 11 Minnesota batters at Target Field as the Texas
Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins by the count of 1 to 0.
The game was won by Texas when they scored a run in the 9th inning. Rougned
Odor hit a single. Odor took his lead and swiped second. Nomar Mazara then
stroked a base-hit scoring the run. Texas had only 4 hits for the night.
The victory was credited to Bumgarner(14-18) who went 8 innings, allowing no
runs. Roenis Elias got the save, his 14th. Hunter Wood(2-3) was hit with the
loss in relief.
Bumgarner didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he
had 11 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a
decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty
good, isn't it?'

Kelly(10-13) was tremendous on the mound for Chicago (NL). He surrendered
only 3 hits and 1 walk in 8 innings. Chicago (NL) finished with just 5 hits
in the victory.
Kelly got help from Mark Melancon who earned his 11th save. Zack
Greinke(14-13) took the loss. He was stingy with the baserunners, allowing
just 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings.

topped the Atlanta Braves by the slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Milwaukee did all of it's offensive work in the 3rd inning as they scored 4
runs on 2 base hits. That early scoring was all that John Means(15-14)
needed. Milwaukee took care of Atlanta with no trouble in the 9th.
Will Smith preserved the game for Means, recording his his 19th save. Michael
Pineda(10-12) suffered the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving
up 4 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.

their team's expense. He smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 1st
inning and laced a base-hit bringing in two baserunners in the 7th inning.
Colorado out-hit Los Angeles(NL) for the game, 15 hits to 5.
The victory went to Sam Dyson(11-6) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Tyler Mahle(12-11) was tagged with the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 9

single in the 8th inning. Overall Cleveland out-hit Detroit 14 to 10.
The winning pitcher was Zach Plesac(8-4) who allowed 2 runs in 6 innings. Wade
Leblanc(4-6) was the loser. He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 1/3 innings of
work.

he belted a solo home run. The Arizona offense proved no trouble in the
bottom of the 9th.
Eflin(11-13) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 1
run. Hunter Strickland recorded his 6th save. The loss was charged to Ryan
Yarbrough(9-9).
