David Freese ripped a bases loaded blast as the Tampa Bay Rays outscored the
Toronto Blue Jays 7 to 4.
Freese provided much of the offense. He doubled in the 7th inning and quieted
the crowd by clouting a Grand Slam in the 8th inning. Tampa Bay had 9 hits
for the game and Toronto had 5.
Blake Snell(6-5) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Nick Anderson
earned his 11th save. Stefan Crichton(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He
was knocked around, surrendering 4 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings.

Tim Locastro had 4 hits as the San Francisco Giants topped the Detroit Tigers
in 10 innings by a score of 8 to 5 at Comerica Park.
Both teams were tied at 5 runs apiece after nine innings. San Francisco came
out on top in the 10th inning. Maikel Franco got things going when he banged
out a single. After an out was recorded, Locastro stepped up to the plate
and he hit a single driving in a run. Locastro swiped second base. Mike
Yastrzemski came up and he drew a walk. Tom Murphy came up to bat and laced
a base-knock plating one more runner. Phillip Ervin dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out. Jake Bauers next to the plate and he laced a
base-hit scoring the final run of the inning. This was the kind of game that
many fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
The victory was credited to Josh Osich(4-4) who went 1 inning, allowing 1 run.
Robert Stephenson gained credit for his 8th save. Blaine Hardy(0-2) was
tagged with the loss in relief.

walks in 6 innings. Sanchez recorded 7 strikeouts. Houston was out-hit by
Arizona, 7 hits to 3.
Aroldis Chapman preserved the game for Sanchez, recording his his 23rd save.
C.C. Sabathia(3-12) was given the loss. He gave up 7 hits and no walks in 7
innings.

while New York (NL) ended up with 8.
The winning pitcher was J.A. Happ(9-6) who allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. Reyes
Moronta recorded his 5th save. Wade Miley(3-11) was charged with the loss.
He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs in 6 innings.

Evan Longoria had 3 base hits at PNC Park as the Milwaukee Brewers won in
dramatic fashion coming back to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 6
to 5.
Milwaukee came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
scoring 4 runners on 4 hits. Milwaukee finished with 11 hits in the victory.
The victory went to Adrian Morejon(1-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Morejon got help from Will Smith who earned his 16th save. Brad Brach(0-1)
ended up with the loss in relief.
Pittsburgh's manager was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm
not in the mood for questions, but I'm sure Milwaukee's manager will be glad
to talk about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

At Camden Yards the Boston Red Sox easily handled the woeful Baltimore Orioles
by the score of 6 to 2.
Boston jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they scored 2
runs on 3 hits. Overall Boston out-hit Baltimore 9 to 6.
Glenn Sparkman(8-6) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the win. The loss was
charged to Zach Davies(3-12). He gave up 5 runs and 7 hits in 6 and 1/3
innings.

First baseman Miguel Sano launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Cincinnati
Reds clobbered the outmatched Philadelphia Phillies, 16 to 1.
Sano enjoyed a great evening at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run in
the 1st inning, doubled scoring two baserunners in the 4th inning and smashed
a solo-shot out of the park in the 5th inning. Cincinnati kept the
scorekeepers busy in the 4th inning which saw them score 11 runs on 7 hits.
For the game Cincinnati out-hit Philadelphia 12 to 7.
Anthony Desclafani(8-7) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 innings and
allowing no runs. Desclafani got help from Corbin Burnes who was credited
with his 2nd save. The loss was charged to Caleb Smith(1-5). Cincinnati
scored big getting 9 runs off him in 3 and 2/3 innings.
Sano said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'

Miami tallied 2 runs in the bottom of the 7th inning when they came up with 4
base hits. Lourdes Gurriel led off and got things going when he doubled.
Scott Kingery came next and he ripped a single bringing in a run. Kingery
took second on the throw. After an out was recorded, Josh Naylor then
delivered a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Although they
lost, Washington did out-hit Miami 10 to 6.
J.D. Hammer(5-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Casey Sadler got the save, his 16th. Luis Garcia(3-9) was charged with the
loss in relief.

The Kansas City Royals nipped the St. Louis Cardinals 5 to 4 at Kauffman
Stadium in a hard fought contest.
Kansas City came up with 3 runs in the bottom of the 5th inning with the help
of 3 hits. They would be enough to earn the win. St. Louis made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Clayton Richard(1-1) went 5 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Caleb
Ferguson was credited with his 1st save. Jack Flaherty(9-6) took the loss.
While he was the losing pitcher, he still struck out 10 batters in 6 and 1/3
innings.
'This was a tough loss,' said St. Louis' manager, 'the kind that sticks with
you for awhile.'

Atlanta went ahead for good in the 2nd inning as they scored 3 runs on 3 base
hits. The biggest moment was provided by Christian Vazquez who silenced
Wrigley Field as he laced a base-knock bringing home two baserunners.
Atlanta had 12 hits for the night.
Adrian Sampson(5-12) was the winner allowing 5 runs in 5 innings. Derek
Law(0-7) suffered the loss. The Atlanta ballclub's record now stands at a
division leading 74-41. With this loss, Chicago (NL) has a 5-5 record of
late, 51-64 overall.

hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Yoan Moncada who electrified Dodger

Wisler(6-7) was given the loss in relief. Los Angeles(NL)'s manager was
ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that.

In an entertaining game at Target Field the final score was the Cleveland
Indians 6, the Minnesota Twins 3.
Cleveland came through with the game-winning runs in the top of the 8th inning
plating 3 runs on 4 hits. Max Muncy started the attack as he lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown'. Andrew Benintendi stepped up next and he doubled.
Ryne Harper then threw a pitch that got away from the catcher. After an out
was recorded, Ryan Zimmerman stepped in and he slapped a one-base hit
bringing in another run. After another out, Yolmer Sanchez stepped up to the
plate and he delivered a base-hit, and an error was also committed, scoring
the final run of the inning. Cleveland banged out 8 hits on the afternoon.
Danny Duffy(9-6) went 8 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Duffy got
help from Jarlin Garcia who earned his 9th save. The losing pitcher was
Marco Gonzales(10-10).
