Second baseman Jeff McNeil launched 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the New York
(NL) Mets clobbered the outmatched woeful Washington Nationals, 21 to
7.
McNeil provided much of the offense. He smashed a two-run homer in the 2nd
inning, delivered a one-base hit in the 3rd inning, laced a base-hit bringing
home two baserunners in the 4th inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 8th
inning. New York (NL) lit up the scoreboard in the 2nd inning which saw them
plate 5 runs on 6 hits, the 8th inning with 5 runs on 5 hits and the 9th
inning when they had 5 runs on 6 hits. Offensively, New York (NL) was a
juggernaut. They scored in 6 separate innings.

At Yankee Stadium the Baltimore Orioles outdistanced the New York (AL) Yankees

Baltimore took the lead for good in the 2nd inning scoring a single run using
2 hits. Victor Reyes hit a bases-empty home run. The Baltimore offense
man-handled the New York (AL) pitching staff as they scored in 8 of the 9
innings.
Mike Minor(9-13) was the winner allowing 4 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings. Chaz Roe
recorded the save, his 4th. Ivan Nova(6-11) was the losing pitcher. He got

In a tight game it was the red-hot Pittsburgh Pirates 5, the Philadelphia
Phillies 3 at Citizens Bank Park.
Pittsburgh wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning plating one
baserunner utilizing 3 base hits. Overall Pittsburgh out-hit Philadelphia 12
to 6.
Max Scherzer(17-6) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Kirby Yates
got the save, his 37th. Robbie Ray(6-7) was tagged with the loss.
Pittsburgh won for the 8th straight time.

Brad Miller had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Houston Astros bested the Detroit
Tigers 10 to 6 at Comerica Park.
Miller had a good evening at the plate. He cracked a two-run shot in the 1st
inning, singled in the 3rd inning, laced a base-knock plating two runs in the
4th inning and ripped a single in the 8th inning. Houston had a total of 13
hits for the game.
Kyle Gibson(6-13) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 7 innings. Daniel
Ponce De Leon(3-2) was hit with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 5 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings.

Trea Turner had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals topped the
Cincinnati Reds in 12 innings by a score of 12 to 10 at Great American
Bpk.
Both teams had scored 10 runs after nine full innings. St. Louis won it in
the 12th inning. Tucker Barnhart led off and got things going when he
delivered a single. Justin Wilson then let one slip out of his hand for a
wild pitch. Two outs later Turner stepped in and he clubbed a two-run home
run. A wild and woolly affair, this game saw the lead change 5 times.
The win went to Daniel Hudson(3-4) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. Hudson
got relief help from Brandon Workman who gained credit for his 30th save.
Wilson(1-3) was given the loss in relief.

Third baseman David Bote had 3 base hits at Marlins Park where the Chicago
(NL) Cubs beat the Miami Marlins 4 to 3.
Chicago (NL) scored all of the necessary runs in the 7th inning when they
scored 4 runs on 5 hits. The highlight belonged to Ronny Rodriguez who
deflated the crowd as he tripled bringing in two baserunners. Miami had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory went to Bryan Shaw(7-3) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Rowan
Wick recorded his 12th save. Nick Wittgren(4-6) suffered the loss in relief.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Miami's
manager said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say
they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'

Danny Santana jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI as the Toronto Blue
Jays beat the Kansas City Royals in 11 innings by a score of 8 to 7.
Both teams were tied at 7 runs apiece after nine innings. Toronto won the
game in the 11th inning. Santana tripled. After another out, Anthony
Santander came up and he hit a deep fly scoring the run. Toronto had 14 hits
for the night while Kansas City had 11.
Roberto Osuna(2-3) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 and 2/3 innings. Osuna got
help from Stefan Crichton who earned his 1st save. Scott Barlow(5-6) ended
up with the loss in relief.
Wth the win Toronto now has a record of 80-54. Not able to get much going in
recent weeks, Kansas City is 2-8 of late and now has an overall record of
59-73.

Chris Sale mowed down 10 Texas batters at Globe Life Park where the Colorado
Rockies beat the pitiful Texas Rangers by the score of 9 to 4.
Sale(12-6) pitched a solid game. He allowed 4 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3
innings. Colorado had 17 hits for the game and Texas had 6.
Ariel Jurado(3-16) was charged with the loss. He allowed Colorado 7 runs in 4
and 1/3 innings of work. Sale was humble when questioned about his
performance, 'Well, I felt pretty confident in my pitches tonight. But, I
had great support behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an
extremely well called game!'
MINNESOTA AT MILWAUKEE

Kevin Cron left the yard and had 4 RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers outscored the
Minnesota Twins 6 to 1.
Minnesota was unable to recover after Milwaukee went ahead in the bottom of
the 5th inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base hits. The key offensive
moment was provided by Cron who brought the crowd to their feet when he hit a
single bringing home two baserunners. For the game Milwaukee out-hit
Minnesota 12 to 3.
John Means(14-10) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 innings and allowing
1 run. German Marquez(12-8) was the loser. He got hammered, allowing 9 hits
and 2 walks in 6 innings.
When questioned, Milwaukee's manager remarked, 'It's been a while since a win
felt this good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'

In a game for the baseball purist, Jerad Eickhoff(4-4) and Tommy Milone(9-5)
squared off in a tense pitching duel, San Francisco Giants finally emerged
victorious over San Diego Padres, 2 to 0.
San Diego never recovered after San Francisco took the lead in the 4th inning
plating an isolated run using 3 hits. After two were out Jake Bauers laced a
single. Jorge Polanco next to the plate and he banged out a single. Jason
Kipnis then delivered a one-base hit scoring the run. San Francisco had 6
hits for the game and San Diego had 3.
Hunter Strickland was credited with his 4th save.

The red-hot Tampa Bay Rays and the Seattle Mariners locked up in an exciting
one-run game at T-Mobile Park. The final score was the red-hot Tampa Bay
Rays 3, the Seattle Mariners 2.
Seattle found themselves trailing quickly as the Tampa Bay bats came through
in the first inning when they tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. Seattle had a chance
in the 9th but they came up short.
James Paxton(13-6) went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory.
Paxton got relief help from Adam Conley who gained credit for his 4th save.
Jacob Degrom(19-6) took the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 7 innings.

Aaron Civale went 8 solid innings as the Cleveland Indians defeated the
Arizona Diamondbacks in 16 innings by the score of 2 to 1 at Progressive
Field.
The score was tied at 1 after nine. Cleveland was victorious in the 16th
inning. After an out was recorded, Andrew Benintendi doubled. One out
later, Yolmer Sanchez came up and he was walked intentionally. Steve Cishek
then uncorked a wild pitch making Cleveland the victors to the delight of the
home town faithful. The teams had been locked in a scoreless duel until the
8th inning.
The win was credited to Evan Marshall(7-1) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Taylor Cole(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. He allowed 2 hits and 1

In an exciting finish the very potent Atlanta Braves pulled out a win over the
Oakland Athletics by a score of 5 to 4 at SunTrust Park.
The game was won by Atlanta with a run in the 9th inning. After an out was
recorded, Josh Bell smashed a solo-shot out of the park giving Atlanta the
victory as 38,877 happy fans celebrated wildly. Atlanta finished with 7 hits
in the victory.
Anthony Bass(2-2) was the winner allowing 1 run in 2 innings. Noe Ramirez(1-2)
took the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings giving up 1 hit and no

Jason Vargas went 6 strong innings as the Los Angeles(AL) Angels topped the
Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by a score of 4 to 1 at Dodger Stadium.
Vargas(3-5) was solid in the win. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and no
walks in 6 innings dropping his ERA from 4.93 to 4.69. Los Angeles(AL) had

Austin Adams preserved the game for Vargas, recording his his 3rd save. The

record now stands at 71-62. Los Angeles(NL)'s manager was unhappy with his
club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It gets
