baserunner utilizing 2 base hits. Toronto managed 10 hits in their victory.
The winning pitcher was Matt Boyd(17-8) who allowed 3 runs in 6 and 2/3
innings. Jeremy Jeffress got the save, his 5th. Masahiro Tanaka(5-12) was
charged with the loss. He allowed 9 hits and no walks in 6 and 1/3 innings.

Shortstop Corey Seager had 4 hits and 3 RBI at Citizens Bank Park as the
Philadelphia Phillies beat the Atlanta Braves by the count of 7 to 4.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Seager. He ripped a one-base hit in the 2nd inning, smashed a
solo-shot out of the park in the 4th inning, laced a base-hit bringing home
two baserunners in the 5th inning and lined a single in the 8th inning.
Philadelphia rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.
The victory went to Caleb Smith(2-6) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3
runs. Brad Hand earned the save, his 26th. Michael Pineda(9-10) was the
loser. He pitched 5 innings giving up 7 hits and 2 walks.

Max Kepler launched 2 homeruns and Dario Agrazal went 7 strong innings as the
dominant Pittsburgh Pirates pulled out a win over the Miami Marlins by a
score of 6 to 5 at PNC Park.
The deciding run was scored by Pittsburgh in the bottom of the 9th. After two
outs Kepler hit a bases-empty home run resulting in an exciting win for
Pittsburgh and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans.
Pittsburgh out-hit Miami for the game, 10 hits to 6.
Kirby Yates(4-3) went 1 inning allowing 1 run for the victory. Tyler Webb(1-3)
suffered the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and no walks in 1 and 2/3
innings.

Trevor Cahill(3-13) ended up with the loss. He pitched 4 innings and

separated the combatants at game's end. The Cincinnati Reds won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.

by Cincinnati, 8 hits to 4. The victory was credited to Anthony
Desclafani(9-8) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. Felipe Vazquez earned
his 19th save. The losing pitcher was Taylor Williams(0-1) in relief.
Although losing the contest, he whiffed 7 batters in 4 innings.
Cincinnati now has a record of 72-58. Not able to get much going in recent
weeks, Milwaukee is 1-9 of late and now has an overall record of 53-77, worst
in the division.

Michael Wacha(8-9) took the loss. Cole was asked about his big strikeout
performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these numbers on the
road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands, everything gets
real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be able to take the
crowd out of the game.'

In a tight game it was the Tampa Bay Rays 5, the Los Angeles(AL) Angels 3 at
Angel Stadium.
Tampa Bay came up with the deciding runs in the 8th inning plating 3 runs on 2
hits. Jose Altuve led off and started the rally when he ripped a base-hit.
Ketel Marte was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. One out later,
Rhys Hoskins was hit by a pitch. Joey Gallo was up next and he lost the ball
over the fence for three runs. Los Angeles(AL) threatened in the 9th but
Tampa Bay was able to put down the rally.
Martin Perez(9-4) allowed 2 runs in 7 innings, and picked up the victory.
Trevor Gott was credited with his 14th save. The losing pitcher was Zack
Britton(2-2) in relief.
'We won because we did the little things right.' Tampa Bay's manager said
after the game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so
when we get in close games we don't make mistakes.'

Dinelson Lamet racked up an impressive total of 13 strikeouts at PETCO Park
where the San Diego Padres beat the Washington Nationals in 15 innings 5 to
4.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. San Diego won the game
in the 15th inning. Franmil Reyes led off and started the attack as he drew
a walk. Fernando Tatis Jr was next and he laced a base-knock. Tatis Jr took
second on the throw. Yadier Molina then doubled making San Diego victorious
to the delight of the the home town crowd. Despite losing, Washington
out-hit San Diego 14 to 11.
The win went to Luis Perdomo(1-0) who allowed 1 run in 2 innings. Erick
Fedde(3-5) was hit with the loss in relief. He gave up 2 runs and 2 hits
without retiring a batter.

At Chase Field the strong Arizona Diamondbacks outscored the dreadful San
Francisco Giants 8 to 5.
San Francisco was unable to recover after Arizona went ahead in the bottom of
the 4th inning scoring 2 runners on 2 hits. The crucial at-bat was provided
by Eloy Jimenez who made the home-town crowd a happy bunch when he clubbed a
two-run home run. San Francisco threatened in the 9th but their rally came
up short.
The winning pitcher was Drew Pomeranz(5-1) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings.
Pomeranz got help from Aroldis Chapman who was credited with his 27th save.
Asher Wojciechowski(5-13) was charged with the loss.
'You have to give San Francisco credit, they fought us tough to the end'
Arizona's manager said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we
pulled out the victory.'

Oliver Perez recorded the save, his 4th. Vince Velasquez(5-7) suffered the

Kansas City found themselves trailing quickly as the Cleveland bats came
through in the first inning when they tallied 3 runs on 2 hits. The early
run support proved sufficient for Danny Duffy(10-8) and Cleveland. That was
all the run support Duffy required. Cleveland had 11 hits for the game and
Kansas City had 8.
The loss was charged to Joe Ross(1-10). He allowed 2 hits and 2 walks in 2/3

innings and struckout 4 Detroit batters dropping his ERA from 4.60 to 4.35.
Detroit was out-hit by Minnesota, 13 hits to 9.
