single run on 4 hits. That was all Leblanc(4-3) needed. Texas was out-hit
by Detroit, 12 hits to 3.
Madison Bumgarner(10-14) was charged with the loss. He got hit hard, allowing

Right fielder Bryce Harper slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the Cincinnati
Reds beat the Pittsburgh Pirates in 10 innings by a score of 5 to 4.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Cincinnati came out on top in
the 10th inning. J.D. Martinez led off and started the rally when he
doubled. Harper came to the plate and smashed a two-run homer. Miguel Sano
then drew a walk. Michael Conforto was up next and he lined a one-base hit.
After an out was recorded, Austin Hedges came up and he drew a walk to load
the bases. Jonathan Villar kept the inning going and singled resulting in an
exciting win for Cincinnati and a raucous post-game celebration by the home
town fans. Overall Cincinnati out-hit Pittsburgh 12 to 9.
Brad Peacock(3-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Kirby
Yates(3-3) was given the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings and
surrendered 5 hits and 3 walks.

Blake Snell mowed down 12 Baltimore batters at Tropicana Field where the Tampa
Bay Rays beat the pitiful Baltimore Orioles by the score of 9 to
3.
Snell(7-5) earned his pay with a solid performance for Tampa Bay. He went 5
and 1/3 innings allowing 7 hits and 1 walk. Tampa Bay rapped out 8 hits for
the afternoon.
Yusei Kikuchi(6-11) suffered the loss. He was hit hard and gave up 5 hits and
2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings. The Tampa Bay fans were thrilled by the
performance put forth by Snell, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they
enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their
appreciation with a loud cheer.' Tampa Bay's manager said following the game.

Josh Bell hit one over the fence at SunTrust Park as the Miami Marlins lost a
heartbreaker to Atlanta Braves by the score of 6 to 5.
The deciding run was scored by Atlanta in the 9th. Bell lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' making Atlanta the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Atlanta out-hit Miami for the game, 12 hits to 7.
Seth Lugo(3-0) got the win allowing no runs in 3 innings. Elieser
Hernandez(2-5) was tagged with the loss in relief. He was knocked around,
surrendering 3 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Dinelson Lamet dominated striking out 12 Washington batters and Franmil Reyes
cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Nationals Park as the San Diego Padres
beat the Washington Nationals 10 to 8.
Reyes propelled San Diego to victory. He ripped a single in the 1st inning,
launched a three-run homer in the 5th inning and lifted one out of the park
for a two run home run in the 7th inning. San Diego won despite being
out-hit by Washington 13 hits to 10.
The win was credited to Lamet(4-1) who went 6 innings allowing 3 runs.
Reynaldo Lopez(4-15) was the losing pitcher. Despite losing, he struckout 7
San Diego batters in 4 and 1/3 innings.
Lamet, when asked about his 12 strikeout performance noted, 'The important
thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team?
But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'

The Minnesota Twins scored 4 runs in the 2nd inning and cruised to a 9 to 2
victory over the Kansas City Royals at Target Field.
Edgar Garcia(3-1) pitched good enough to get the victory in relief. He went 1
and 1/3 innings and surrended up 2 hits and 2 walks. Minnesota had 13 hits
for the game and Kansas City had 7.
The losing pitcher was Clayton Richard(1-3). This win by Minnesota continues
their recent hot streak. In their last ten games, they have a record of 8-2.
For the season, they are 66-61. Kansas City's manager was pretty down after
the loss. 'We've really been sputtering along lately, something like 2-8 in
the last week or two. That won't get it done.'

Howie Kendrick went yard and had 5 RBI as the powerful St. Louis Cardinals
ballclub embarrassed the Milwaukee Brewers by the count of 12 to 1.
Kendrick enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He rifled a three-run blast in the
1st inning and doubled bringing home two baserunners in the 2nd inning.
Milwaukee was out-hit by St. Louis, 17 hits to 5.
The victory went to Gerrit Cole(14-5) who went 5 and 1/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Luke Weaver(7-9) took the loss. Wth the win St. Louis now has a record
of a division leading 84-41. Milwaukee has a record of 53-70, worst in the
division after the loss.

Matt Olson cracked a homer and had 5 RBI as the Colorado Rockies staged a
dramatic comeback over the hopeless San Francisco Giants by a score of 7 to 6
at AT&T Park.
Colorado had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs. After an out
was recorded, Nolan Arenado opened up the rally as he drew a walk. Jones
took off for second and slid in with a stolen base. Hunter Strickland then
bounced one in the dirt for a wild pitch. Trevor Story followed next and he
drew a walk. Olson came to the plate and smacked a three-run homer.
Colorado had a total of 10 hits for the game.
Reyes Moronta(7-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning.
Moronta got help from Scott Oberg who was credited with his 25th save.
Strickland(1-5) was hit with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up 1 hit and 1 walk.
Colorado's manager was all smiles after the game, 'To pull a game out in your
last at bats, is a beautiful feeling - and did you see how quiet it got out
there? You could have heard a pin drop when we took the lead. But, hey,
that's what makes baseball so great - as the great sage Yogi Berra says,

Griffin Canning had a strong outing as the Los Angeles(AL) Angels defeated the
slumping Houston Astros by a score of 4 to 3 at Angel Stadium.
Houston found themselves trailing quickly as the Los Angeles(AL) bats came
through in the first inning scoring 2 runners on 1 hit. The biggest moment
was provided by Shohei Ohtani who thrilled the crowd when he cleared the
fences for a two-run home run. Houston tried unsuccessfully to come back in
the 9th.
The victory was credited to Canning(8-3) who went 7 innings, allowing 1 run.
Zack Britton recorded his 19th save. Jhoulys Chacin(7-11) absorbed the loss.
Despite the loss, he struckout 8 Los Angeles(AL) batters in 5 innings.
Houston's manager was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If
our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that
one. That is what really ticks me off!'

victory. Teheran got relief help from Aroldis Chapman who gained credit for

Park in a hard fought contest.
The game was deadlocked at 2 after nine full innings. Boston won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. Jose Iglesias delivered a single. Dee
Gordon came to the plate and laid down a sacrifice bunt. Curt Casali got his
chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes. Chris Iannetta
came up and he doubled resulting in an exciting win for Boston and a raucous
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Boston ended up with 10 hits
for the game while Oakland had 6.

Markakis drew a walk. Mike Freeman stepped into the batter's box and he
singled. Max Muncy then was hit by a pitch. Andrew Benintendi followed and
he slapped a base-hit giving Cleveland the win and sending the home town fans
into a frenzy. Due to a poorly pitched ballgame, scoring in 5 different
innings was still not enough for Seattle to come away with the victory.
Jon Duplantier(2-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Sergio Romo(4-1) was hit with the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run
and 1 hit in 2 innings.
