the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 9 to 2.
Baltimore wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they came
up with 2 runs on 2 hits. The big moment was provided by Marcell Ozuna who
disappointed the partisan crowd when he cleared the fences for a two-run home
run. For the game Baltimore out-hit Tampa Bay 10 to 4.
Miles Mikolas(5-12) allowed 2 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Yu Darvish(16-7) ended up with the loss. Despite taking the loss,
he whiffed 9 batters in 5 and 1/3 innings.

In a close game it was the Toronto Blue Jays 6, the Chicago (NL) Cubs 4 at
Rogers Centre.
Jason Adam(1-0) got the win with a steady relief outing. He went 1 inning
allowing 2 hits and 1 walk lowering his ERA to 1.93. Both teams ended up
with 5 hits on the afternoon.
Roberto Osuna gained credit for his 19th save. Merrill Kelly(7-11) suffered
the loss. He surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Gabriel Ynoa(4-2) pitched in relief and was credited with the victory. He

Gsellman who pitched great and earned his 6th save.
Brad Hand(0-8) was the losing pitcher in relief. He was unable to retire a
batter giving up 3 hits and no walks.

Chris Sale went 8 solid innings and J.T. Realmuto left the yard at AT&T Park
as the mighty Colorado Rockies beat the league door-mat San Francisco Giants
4 to 2.
Sale(10-6) escaped virtually unscathed against the San Francisco hitters. He
gave up just 3 hits and no walks in 8 innings. Colorado finished with 8 hits
while San Francisco ended up with 4.
Scott Oberg recorded his 24th save. Zach Eflin(7-12) absorbed the loss. He
pitched 5 innings and surrendered 4 hits and 3 walks.

Max Kepler hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates defeated the
Cincinnati Reds by a score of 7 to 6 at Great American Bpk.
Pittsburgh started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of
the first when they scored 3 runs on 3 hits. The critical plate appearance
was by Adam Frazier who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when he
smacked a single scoring two baserunners. Cincinnati threatened in the 9th
but Pittsburgh was able to put down the rally.
Chris Bassitt(16-5) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 8 innings.
Bassitt was helped out by Kirby Yates who recorded his 33rd save. The loss
was charged to Luis Castillo(3-10). He gave up 7 runs in 5 innings of work.
Cincinnati's manager was in a contemplative mood after the tough loss, 'It is
really hard to lose this kind of a game. It may seem weird to some, but it
is easier to take the occasional blow-out loss. It is the ones that just
barely get away that hurt so much - like this one!'

Shortstop Nick Solak recorded 4 RBI with one swing when he ripped a grand slam
as the Texas Rangers topped the Detroit Tigers by a score of 15 to 7 at
Comerica Park.
Solak was really in 'the zone'. He hit a single bringing in a run in the 1st
inning, quieted the crowd by clouting a Grand Slam in the 2nd inning and
laced a one-base hit bringing in two baserunners in the 3rd inning. Texas
bats were hot in the 1st inning with 6 runs on 7 hits, the 2nd inning which
saw them plate 4 runs on 4 hits and the 3rd inning when they had 4 runs on 4
hits. Detroit scored in 5 different innings, but their shaky pitching kept
them from victory.
The victory was credited to Ariel Jurado(3-15) who went 7 innings, allowing 6
runs. Jaime Barria(2-8) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 3 hits and no
walks in 1/3 of an inning.

Jurickson Profar went deep and had 3 RBI at Nationals Park where the San Diego
Padres beat the awful Washington Nationals 4 to 3.
Kyle Freeland(7-7) pitched a fine game. He allowed 6 hits and 2 walks in 6
innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.71 to 4.49. Washington made it exciting
in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Matt Andriese earned the save, his 4th. Jefry Rodriguez(0-8) took the loss.
'You have to give Washington credit, they fought us tough to the end' San
Diego's manager said. 'It could have gone either way, but I'm glad we pulled
out the victory.'
KANSAS CITY AT MINNESOTA

The Minnesota Twins offense put up 4 runs on the scoreboard in the 8th inning
and defeated the Kansas City Royals by a score of 5 to 2 at Target
Field.
Minnesota scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning when they
tallied 4 runs on 3 hits. The highlight belonged to Freddie Freeman who
brought a roar from the partisan Target Field fans when he blasted a two-run
home run. Neither team was able to score until the 6th inning.
The victory went to Sean Doolittle(2-3) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Doolittle got help from Daniel Mengden who was credited with his 4th
save. Scott Barlow(5-5) ended up with the loss in relief. Minnesota knocked
him around a bit, as he gave up 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
MILWAUKEE AT ST. LOUIS

Tommy Pham collected 2 extra-base hits and had 3 RBI as the incredible St.
Louis Cardinals outscored the Milwaukee Brewers 6 to 1.
St. Louis claimed the early lead in the first inning as they scored 2 runs on
2 base hits. That early scoring was all that Jeff Samardzija(8-10) needed.
St. Louis totaled 8 hits on the night.
Brad Keller(7-16) was tagged with the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 6 runs in 5 innings. St. Louis now has a record of a division
leading 83-41. With the loss Milwaukee now has a record of 53-69, worst in
the division.

In a tight game it was the Atlanta Braves 6, the Miami Marlins 4 at SunTrust
Park.
Miami was unable to recover after Atlanta went ahead in the bottom of the 2nd
inning scoring 2 runs utilizing 2 base hits. D.J. Lemahieu led off and he
lashed a single. Cameron Maybin stepped up to the plate and he lined a
base-hit. Maybin took second on the throw. Asdrubal Cabrera then would
ground out which scored a run. After an out was recorded, Kyle Hendricks
came to bat and reached on an error scoring the final run of the inning.
Hendricks(13-5) got help from Alex Colome who pitched a perfect ninth and was
credited with his 21st save.
The losing pitcher was Trevor Richards(2-13). He allowed 9 hits and no walks
in 5 innings.

Jose Berrios racked up an impressive total of 11 strikeouts and Tim Beckham
knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Angel Stadium as the Los Angeles(AL)
Angels beat the ice-cold Houston Astros by the count of 8 to 4.
Beckham enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He cracked a solo homerun in the
4th inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 6th inning.
Los Angeles(AL) rapped out 9 hits for the night.
Berrios(9-12) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 7 and 1/3 innings.
C.C. Sabathia(3-14) was the losing pitcher. He served up 3 gopher balls in 4
and 1/3 innings.
Los Angeles(AL)'s manager was asked about the performance of Berrios, 'He had
his good stuff out there tonight. The fans really get into it when the
strikeouts start mounting up - and that seems to give him even more
adrenalin.'

Mike Moustakas had 2 base hits as the potent Arizona Diamondbacks bested the
Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers 4 to 0 at Dodger Stadium.
Los Angeles(NL) was unable to climb back into it after Arizona went ahead for
good in the 2nd inning plating one baserunner. That was all the offense they
were to need. Arizona had 9 hits for the game and Los Angeles(NL) had 6.
Anibal Sanchez(10-5) went 7 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Sanchez
got relief help from Aroldis Chapman who gained credit for his 25th save.
Felix Hernandez(3-1) suffered the loss.

Seth Brown had 4 hits and 5 RBI and Clayton Kershaw whiffed 10 batters at
Fenway Park as the indomitable Oakland Athletics beat the Boston Red Sox by
the count of 9 to 3.
Brown led the offense for Oakland. He tripled with all three baserunners
touching home in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, doubled scoring
two baserunners in the 7th inning and doubled in the 9th inning. Oakland had
a total of 11 hits for the game.
Kershaw(16-2) went 8 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Glenn Sparkman(8-7)
was charged with the loss. He gave up 3 hits and 1 walk in 2/3 of an inning.
Boston's manager was impressed with Kershaw and his 10 strikeouts. 'It's
tough to generate runs if you can't make contact with the ball.'

separated the combatants at game's end. The Seattle Mariners won by the
slimmest of margins, 3 to 2.
Seattle had 2 runs cross the plate in the top of the 5th inning. After two
were out Ozzie Albies opened up the rally as he doubled. Christian Yelich
followed next and he bombed a two-run dinger. Cleveland went down quietly in
the bottom of the 9th.
Jacob Degrom(18-5) got the win allowing 2 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings. Ken Giles
gained credit for his 20th save. Joe Musgrove(8-7) was the losing pitcher.
Seattle won for the 6th straight time.
