Encarnacion provided much of the offense. He cracked a solo homerun in the
2nd inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 4th inning, hit a
bases-empty home run in the 6th inning and doubled scoring a run in the 7th
inning. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed
hands 5 times.
Tyler Chatwood(6-5) was the winner allowing 1 run in 2 and 2/3 innings. Logan
Allen(1-2) absorbed the loss in relief. Texas scored big getting 3 runs off
him in 2 and 1/3 innings.

Max Scherzer racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and left fielder
Giancarlo Stanton had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates
outscored the Cincinnati Reds 2 to 1.
Scherzer(15-6) looked very much in control throughout the night. He allowed
only 5 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings. Pittsburgh had 9 hits overall, while
Cincinnati had 5.
Scherzer got relief help from Archie Bradley who gained credit for his 3rd
save. Shane Bieber(9-10) suffered the loss. 'He was really impressive
tonight,' Bieber said of his counterpart. 'Our guys were just swinging at
air.'

Third baseman Eugenio Suarez slammed a homerun and had 3 RBI as the Tampa Bay
Rays won at Tropicana Field in dramatic fashion over the awful Baltimore
Orioles, the final score, 7 to 6.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. After an out was recorded, Paul Dejong
delivered a single. One out later, Ketel Marte came up and he was hit by a
pitch. Suarez then laced a one-base hit making Tampa Bay the winners and
sending the 24,035 fans home happy. Tampa Bay totaled 10 hits on the night.
Michael Lorenzen(5-0) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. The loss was charged to Richard Rodriguez(1-5) in relief. He gave
up 1 run and 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.
With this win, Tampa Bay has a division leading 77-45 record. They have been
7-3 lately. With the loss, the Baltimore ballclub's record is 39-82, worst
in the division.

Center fielder George Springer smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Atlanta
Braves beat the Miami Marlins by a score of 11 to 4.
The Atlanta fans enjoyed the offense provided by Springer. He bombed a
two-run dinger in the 1st inning, ripped a base-knock in the 4th inning and
cracked a two-run shot in the 6th inning. Atlanta finished with 16 hits
while Miami ended up with 7.
Patrick Corbin(12-7) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 8 innings.
Domingo German(8-10) ended up with the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his
5 innings.
Atlanta remained hot, improving their record to a division leading 81-42.
They now have a record of 9-1 in recent days. With this loss, Miami has a
4-6 record of late, 61-62 overall.

In a close game it was the Minnesota Twins 4, the Kansas City Royals 2 at
Target Field.
Minnesota scored 2 runs in the decisive 7th inning with the help of 3 hits.
Jesse Winker led off and started the rally when he doubled. Luis Arraez
stepped up next and he delivered a one-base hit. Anthony Alford then ripped
a single bringing in a run. Byron Buxton followed next and he drew a walk to
load the bases. Kevin McCarthy then uncorked a wild one that found its way
to the backstop scoring the final run of the inning. Both teams totaled 8
hits on the night.
The winning pitcher was Edgar Garcia(2-1) who allowed no runs in 1 inning.
Sean Doolittle recorded the save, his 5th. Hector Rondon(5-4) was charged
with the loss in relief.

Nolan Arenado had 6 hits and scored 4 times as the very talented Colorado
Rockies topped the pathetic San Francisco Giants by a score of 10 to 7 at
AT&T Park.
Arenado provided much of the offense. He cracked a solo homerun in the 1st
inning, ripped a base-hit in the 2nd inning, laced a single in the 5th
inning, slapped a one-base hit in the 6th inning, laced a base-hit in the 8th
inning and smacked a one-base hit in the 9th inning. Colorado simply wore
out the San Francisco pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
The winning pitcher was Sam Dyson(10-6) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Dyson got help from Ryne Stanek who earned his 1st save. Yimi
Garcia(4-10) took the loss in relief. He pitched 1 and 1/3 innings and
surrendered 4 hits and no walks.
