Marcus Semien had 2 base hits at Citi Field as the impressive Atlanta Braves
beat the New York (NL) Mets 2 to 1.
Charlie Morton(12-5) delivered a fine performance for Atlanta. He was reached
for 5 hits and 1 walk in 6 innings. Morton recorded 9 strikeouts. New York
(NL) had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Alex Colome preserved the game for Morton, recording his his 20th save.
Francisco Liriano(3-5) was the losing pitcher in relief. He gave up 1 hit
and no walks in 2 innings.
Atlanta remained hot, improving their record to a division leading 80-42.
They now have a record of 9-1 in recent days. New York (NL) continued their
losing ways and their record is now 42-79. They are 1-9 in their last ten

Left fielder Kyle Schwarber lofted one into the 'cheap seats' and had 4 RBI as
the Minnesota Twins came back to win one over hapless Boston Red Sox, 8 to
6.
Minnesota had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 3
runs utilizing 3 base hits. After an out was recorded, Lamonte Wade Jr was
the sparkplug when he laced a single. Byron Buxton stepped up next and he
delivered a base-hit. Robinson Chirinos was a strikeout victim, unable to
help out. Freddie Freeman was up next and he drew a walk to load the bases.
Schwarber came to the plate and doubled emptying the bases. Even though they
scored in 5 different innings, Boston was not able to pull off the win.
The win was credited to Carlos Estevez(4-3) who went 2 innings allowing 2
runs. Estevez got help from Hunter Wood who was credited with his 2nd save.
Andrew Miller(1-3) was given the loss in relief.

In an entertaining game at Comerica Park the final score was the Detroit
Tigers 4, the Baltimore Orioles 1.
Daniel Ponce De Leon(3-0) had a solid outing for Detroit. He surrendered 3
hits and 3 walks in 5 innings. Although they lost, Baltimore did out-hit
Detroit 8 to 5.
Ponce De Leon got relief help from Joe Jimenez who gained credit for his 4th
save. David Hess(6-12) was the loser. He surrendered 3 runs and 3 hits in 7
innings.

Freese enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He rifled a three-run blast in the
6th inning and smashed a bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 8th inning. Tampa Bay
finished with 8 hits in the victory.
The winning pitcher was Noah Syndergaard(14-6) who allowed 1 run in 8 innings.
Matt Moore(0-1) suffered the loss. He pitched 5 innings and surrendered 3
hits and 1 walk.

The Miami Marlins pitching staff gave the fans an afternoon that they'll never
forget by tossing a combined no-hitter! The tension started to build around
the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified and recorded 8
strikeouts. Miami had a total of 12 hits for the game.
Chris Paddack(7-12) went 7 innings allowing no runs for the victory. The
losing pitcher was Freddy Peralta(0-7). It was a tough loss for him as he
did not allow an earned run in his 3 and 2/3 innings of work.
'You probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than this
happening,' said Paddack who got credit for the win, 'I don't expect it to
sink in for awhile.' he said. 'You know, it's hard to say who was better, the
starter or the bullpen!'

Center fielder Austin Hays slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Kenta Maeda
reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts as the very potent Arizona Diamondbacks
defeated the Colorado Rockies in 12 innings 3 to 1 at Chase Field.
The score was tied at 1 after nine. Arizona won the hard fought contest in
the 12th inning. Freddy Galvis led off and started the rally when he drew a
walk. Tommy Kahnle then unleashed a wild pitch. Manny Pina dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out. One out later, Hays came to bat and
lifted one out of the park for a two run home run giving Arizona the win much
to the delight of the home town crowd. Arizona had 7 hits for the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Colin Poche(4-1) who went 2 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. The loss was charged to Jesus Tinoco(6-2) in relief.

Jerad Eickhoff mowed down 10 Los Angeles(NL) batters as the San Francisco
Giants defeated the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by a score of 5 to 2 at AT&T
Park.
Eickhoff(3-3) pitched a solid game. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just
3 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings. San Francisco had 9 hits overall, while Los
Angeles(NL) had 4.
Tyler Mahle(11-8) was charged with the loss. When asked about his strikeout
total for the game, Eickhoff offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is
fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands.
Fortunately, I kept them busy this afternoon - of course, it would be all for
naught without the 'W'.'

San Diego was unable to climb back into it after Washington went ahead for
good in the bottom of the 4th inning when they scored 2 runs on 3 hits. For
the game Washington out-hit San Diego 11 to 8.
Young(5-2) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 7 innings. Tommy
Milone(8-4) absorbed the loss. Washington now has a record of 38-84. With
the loss, the San Diego ballclub's record is 65-57.

was enough for Greinke(12-10) and Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh had 6 hits for the
game and Cincinnati had 3.
Kirby Yates recorded the save, his 32nd. Justin Verlander(13-6) was tagged
with the loss. He struck out 13 batters in 8 innings despite losing the
game.
