The New York (NL) Mets got by the San Diego Padres at Citi Field. The final
score was 4 to 2.
New York (NL) scored the decisive runs in a big 8th inning with 3 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Jon Berti kicked off the action when he slapped a
base-hit. Tyler Flowers was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Jay
Bruce was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Jeff McNeil stepped in and
he blasted a two-run home run. Dominic Smith stepped into the box and drew a
walk. Pete Alonso did his part to keep things going and reached on an error.
Yasiel Puig followed and he was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Kyle Seager then drew a walk scoring the final run of the inning. New York
(NL) had only 6 hits for the game.
Robert Gsellman(5-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Paul
Sewald earned his 7th save. Matt Magill(3-4) was tagged with the loss in
relief. He allowed 3 runs and 2 hits in 2/3 of an inning.

George Springer cracked 2 homeruns as the very talented Atlanta Braves
outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates 7 to 5.
The Atlanta fans enjoyed the offense provided by Springer. He blasted a solo
shot in the 2nd inning, hit a single in the 3rd inning and cracked a solo
homerun in the 5th inning. Pittsburgh threatened in the 9th but their rally
came up short.
Patrick Corbin(8-5) was the winner allowing 1 run in 8 innings. Corbin got
help from Seth Lugo who was credited with his 6th save. Zack Greinke(8-7)
was hit with the loss. He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings giving up 5 hits and no
walks.
'Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us tonight' Pittsburgh's
manager said. 'We take these games one day at a time, but this one was hard
to take.'

Luis Arraez blasted a homerun and had 4 RBI at Target Field where the
Minnesota Twins beat the Kansas City Royals 8 to 7.
Arraez provided much of the offense. He singled which scored a run in the 4th
inning, lined a base-hit in the 5th inning and launched a three-run homer in
the 7th inning. Kansas City made it exciting in the 9th, but they were
unable to push the needed runs across.
Lou Trivino(1-0) went 1/3 of an inning allowing 1 run for the win. Devin
Smeltzer gained credit for his 2nd save. Hector Rondon(5-3) absorbed the
loss in relief. He allowed 1 hit and 1 walk in 2 innings.
'We lose our concentration for one pitch, and we lose the game.' Kansas City's
manager said after the game. 'Maybe now these guys will listen when I say
they have to concentrate on EVERY pitch.'

Eloy Jimenez rocketed 2 homeruns as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the
Colorado Rockies by the score of 6 to 0 at Coors Field.
Colorado was unable to claim the lead after Arizona went ahead in the 3rd
inning scoring one runner using 2 hits. That early scoring was all that
Kenta Maeda(12-4) needed. Arizona out-hit Colorado for the game, 10 hits to
5.
The losing pitcher was Mike Soroka(8-2). He pitched 5 innings allowing 7 hits
and no walks.

Third baseman Alex Bregman added four ribbies to his seasonal total with one
swing of the bat as the Seattle Mariners bested the ice-cold Baltimore
Orioles 9 to 0 at T-Mobile Park.
Bregman had a big evening at the plate. He banged out a single scoring a run
in the 7th inning and electrified the crowd with a Grand Slam home run in the
8th inning. Emilio Pagan was perfect in relief and got the save, his 6th.
Lance Lynn(12-1) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.
Miles Mikolas(2-10) was charged with the loss. He pitched 6 innings and
surrendered 5 hits and 1 walk.

In a good matchup it was the Boston Red Sox 4, the Toronto Blue Jays 2 at
Fenway Park.
Heath Hembree(1-0) contributed a very nice performance in relief. He allowed
just 3 hits and no walks in 3 innings and racked up 6 strikeouts reducing his
ERA from 4.91 to 3.86. Boston finished with 8 hits in the victory.
Hembree got help from Ty Buttrey who earned his 2nd save. The loss was
charged to Marcus Stroman(7-7). He gave up 6 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 2/3
innings.

Logan Allen pitched 5 strong innings and Adalberto Mondesi slammed a homerun
and had 3 RBI at Angel Stadium as the Detroit Tigers beat the Los Angeles(AL)
Angels by the count of 8 to 5.
Allen(1-1) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief performance. He
didn't allow much, just 1 hit and no walks in 5 innings. Los Angeles(AL)
could do no damage in the bottom of the 9th.
Allen got relief help from Joe Jimenez who gained credit for his 2nd save.
Danny Duffy(7-5) was hit with the loss. Detroit knocked him around a bit, as
he gave up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.
