score of 3 to 2.
Colorado did all the necessary damage in the 1st inning scoring 3 runners on 4
hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Trevor Story who silenced
Great American Bpk as he cleared the fences for a two-run home run. Colorado
managed only 6 hits on the night.
The winning pitcher was Jesus Tinoco(6-1) who allowed 1 run in 4 and 2/3
innings. Shane Bieber(9-7) was given the loss. He pitched 7 innings allowing
6 hits and 1 walk.

Washington was unable to claim the lead after Atlanta went ahead in the top of
the 2nd inning when they came up with 2 runs on 3 hits. That early scoring
held up. Atlanta out-hit Washington for the game, 14 hits to 5.
Charlie Morton(7-5) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Lucas
Giolito(4-8) was charged with the loss. He surrendered 4 runs and 9 hits in
5 and 1/3 innings.

3rd inning with no runs scored after that point.

It was an amazing offensive display in Citizens Bank Park where the New York
(NL) Mets beat the Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 14 to 10 in.
New York (NL) put a big number on the board in the top of the 8th inning,
which proved too much for Philadelphia to overcome showing no mercy on
Philadelphia as they plated 11 runs on 8 hits. The highlight belonged to Jay
Bruce who silenced Citizens Bank Park as he doubled scoring two baserunners.
Philadelphia was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5 separate
innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that pitching is
also needed to win ballgames.
The win was credited to Gabriel Ynoa(3-2) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Robert Gsellman recorded the save, his 3rd. Brad Hand(0-7) absorbed the loss
in relief.
New York (NL)'s manager was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad
streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe
we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'

Third baseman Brian Anderson had 3 base hits as the Miami Marlins outscored
the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers 5 to 3.
Miami scored the winning runs in the 8th inning with 2 runs using 2 hits.
After two outs Raimel Tapia opened up the rally as he drew a walk. Josh
Phegley followed next and he lined a one-base hit, and an error was also
committed. Josh Naylor then was walked intentionally to load the bases.
Anderson stepped in and he hit a single which scored a run. Juan Soto came
up to bat and drew a walk scoring the final run of the inning. For the game
Miami out-hit Los Angeles(NL) 10 to 4.
Nick Wittgren(4-3) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Wittgren
got help from Casey Sadler who earned his 13th save. Blake Treinen(3-4) took
the loss in relief.
Wth the win Miami now has a record of 51-53. With the loss, the Los
Angeles(NL) ballclub's record is 44-60.

Second baseman Wilmer Flores blasted a homerun at Tropicana Field where the
Detroit Tigers beat the Tampa Bay Rays 9 to 6.
Detroit had the game winning rally in the 8th inning plating 3 runs utilizing
4 base hits. James McCann jump-started the scoring when he blasted a solo
shot. Mallex Smith came next and he tripled. Lorenzo Cain then slapped a
one-base hit plating one more runner. Cain was running on the next pitch and
he stole second. Niko Goodrum came to the plate and doubled scoring the
final run of the inning. Detroit had a total of 13 hits for the game.
Blake Parker(5-7) allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Parker got help from Joe Jimenez who was credited with his 3rd save.
The loss was charged to Kyle Wright(0-2) in relief.

Barlow(4-3) came on to close the door tight in relief. He did not allow a hit
or a walk in his 4 innings and mowed down 6 San Diego batters. Hector Neris
was perfect in the ninth giving him his 17th save on the season.
Matt Wisler(6-5) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 3 hits and 1
walk in 2/3 of an inning.

Mancini had a big evening at the plate. He clubbed a solo home run in the 4th
inning, doubled bringing in a run in the 6th inning, banged out a single
plating a run in the 7th inning and lined a one-base hit in the 8th inning.
Chicago (AL) had 10 hits for the game and Minnesota had 5.
Kenley Jansen(3-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. The right-handed Gray lost his no-hit bid when Marco Hernandez
singled with nobody out in the 6th inning. Marco Gonzales(10-8) absorbed the
loss. He gave up 4 runs and 4 hits in 5 innings.

Joey Votto launched 2 homeruns and scored 3 times and Max Scherzer mowed down
12 Milwaukee batters as the Pittsburgh Pirates bested the Milwaukee Brewers 7
to 1 at Miller Park.
Votto led the offense for Pittsburgh. He laced a base-knock in the 1st
inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 2nd inning and ripped a
solo home run in the 9th inning. Overall Pittsburgh out-hit Milwaukee 11 to
5.
Scherzer(13-5) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Brad
Keller(6-13) was the loser. He allowed a few too many baserunners giving up
8 hits and 2 walks in 5 innings.
Scherzer was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good command of
all my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on.'

Gerrit Cole had an impressive outing as the seemingly unstoppable St. Louis
Cardinals defeated the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the score of 2 to 0 at Busch
Stadium.
Cole(11-5) was on top of his game. He allowed just 3 hits and 1 walk in 8
innings. St. Louis had only 3 hits for the night.
Brandon Workman preserved the game for Cole, recording his his 25th save.
Merrill Kelly(6-9) was the loser. He struck out 10 batters in 7 innings
despite losing the game.

In a thriling finish the red-hot Seattle Mariners pulled off the win over the
Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 2 to 1 at T-Mobile Park.
The deciding run was scored by Seattle in the bottom of the 9th. After an out
was recorded, Carlos Santana lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' resulting in an
exciting win for Seattle and a wild post-game celebration by the home town
fans. Seattle had just 6 hits for the night.
Emilio Pagan(2-5) was the winner allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Jacob
Webb(2-2) absorbed the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up
1 hit and no walks.
