Miguel Sano cracked 3 homeruns and had 5 RBI at Wrigley Field as the
Cincinnati Reds beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the count of 9 to 4.
Sano had a great day at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run in the 4th
inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning and delivered
a solo blast in the 8th inning. Cincinnati had 10 hits for the afternoon.
Shane Bieber(9-6) got the win allowing 4 runs in 8 innings. Merrill Kelly(6-8)
was given the loss. By giving up 7 runs in 5 innings his ERA increased from
3.77 to 4.06.
'I didn't feel that good when I came to the park today,' Sano said. 'I'm glad
I decided to play!'

Eugenio Suarez knocked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated
the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 10 to 8 at Camden Yards.
Suarez was unconscious all evening. The Baltimore fans hated to see him
approaching the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He clubbed
a two-run home run in the 1st inning, stroked a base-hit which was good for
two runs in the 2nd inning and clubbed a solo home run in the 8th inning.
For the game Tampa Bay out-hit Baltimore 11 to 8.
Amir Garrett(3-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Trevor Gott gained credit for his 10th save. Jimmy Yacabonis(2-1) ended up
with the loss in relief. He surrendered no hits and 2 walks in 2/3 of an
inning.
'The ball was jumping off my bat' Suarez said. 'I didn't do anything
differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'

Jon Gray reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts and shortstop Tim Anderson
collected 4 RBI with one swing of the bat as the Chicago (AL) White Sox beat
the Detroit Tigers by a score of 12 to 3.
Anderson was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day
at their team's expense. He emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in
the 1st inning, laced a one-base hit in the 2nd inning and slapped a single
in the 8th inning. Chicago (AL) out-hit Detroit for the game, 18 hits to 9.
The winning pitcher was Gray(10-6) who allowed 2 runs in 8 innings. Mike
Montgomery(3-7) was the loser. He was unable to retire a batter and
surrendered 4 hits and 2 walks.
'I had my good stuff tonight.' Gray said. 'As the game went along I started to
get the feeling that I was going to strike out a bunch of hitters.'

Los Angeles(AL) came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning plating 2
runs on 2 base hits. After two were out Xander Bogaerts began the rally when
he laced a base-hit. Mike Moustakas stepped up to the plate and he lifted
one out of the park for a two run home run. Although they lost, Philadelphia
did out-hit Los Angeles(AL) 13 to 6.
Jose Suarez(3-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Zack Britton recorded the save, his 14th. Craig
Stammen(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief.

innings. Kirby Yates pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 28th save.
Reynaldo Lopez(3-11) was tagged with the loss. Scherzer was jubilant in the
hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot
of support as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 11
strikeouts anytime!'

Lance Lynn didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning as the Seattle Mariners
defeated the slumping New York (NL) Mets by a score of 2 to 0 at Citi
Field.
Lynn(13-1) was tremendous on the mound for Seattle. He surrendered only 2
hits and 1 walk in 8 innings. The right-handed Lynn lost a no-hitter when
Brett Anderson singled with one out in the 6th inning. Seattle had 9 hits
for the night while New York (NL) had 3.
Ken Giles got the save, his 14th. Anderson(6-10) was the losing pitcher. He
pitched 6 and 2/3 innings giving up 8 hits and 3 walks.

separated the combatants at game's end. The Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers won by

appearance was by Yoan Moncada who made the Los Angeles(NL) fans a happy lot
when he bombed a two-run dinger. San Francisco tried unsuccessfully to come
back in the 9th.
The win was credited to Jordan Zimmermann(4-8) who went 5 and 2/3 innings
allowing 3 runs. Fernando Rodney earned his 8th save. The losing pitcher was
Zach Eflin(7-10).
San Francisco's manager was clearly disappointed after the game. 'It was a
manager's nightmare out there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'

come alive when he blasted a two-run home run. New York (AL) made it
exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
The victory went to John Brebbia(3-3) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Brandon Workman earned the save, his 24th. Nick Goody(6-5) took the loss in
relief.
'This was a tough loss,' said New York (AL)'s manager, 'the kind that sticks
with you for awhile.'

hits and 1 walk. Arizona had 12 hits for the game and Miami had 4.
The loss was charged to Domingo German(6-7). He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits
and 3 walks in 4 innings. The Arizona ballclub's record now stands at a
division leading 63-35. With the loss, the Miami ballclub's record is 49-49.

runs in the 5th inning. Colorado totaled 10 hits on the night.

recorded, Evan Longoria clubbed a solo home run. San Diego went down without
a fight in the bottom of the 9th.

Santander was a one-man wrecking crew. He belted a three-run homer in the 4th
inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 6th inning. Toronto lit up the
scoreboard in the 4th inning which saw them score 4 runs on 4 hits and the
6th inning which saw them score 6 runs on 4 hits. Toronto had 13 hits
overall, while Cleveland had 8.
The win was credited to Daniel Norris(8-3) who went 6 innings allowing 3 runs.
Zach Plesac(2-2) took the loss. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up
6 runs in 5 and 1/3 innings.

unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.

Gray got help from Hansel Robles who was credited with his 24th save. The
losing pitcher was Kyle Gibson(5-9). He was unable to control the Oakland
