Michael Chavis knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Boston Red Sox topped
the Baltimore Orioles by a score of 5 to 3 at Fenway Park.
Chavis had a good day at the plate. He bombed a two-run dinger in the 3rd
inning, lined a single in the 5th inning and ripped a solo home run in the
7th inning. Boston managed 9 hits in their victory.
The winning pitcher was Derek Holland(1-14) who allowed no runs in 3 innings.
Holland got help from Matt Barnes who was credited with his 7th save. Mychal
Givens(3-4) was given the loss in relief.
The Boston ballclub's record now stands at 39-57. Still in a bad slump, with

Crawford enjoyed a great day at the plate. He caught a hold of a fastball for
a Grand Slam homerun in the 1st inning, singled in the 3rd inning, blasted a
two-run home run in the 5th inning and ripped a base-knock in the 6th inning.
Overall New York (AL) out-hit Texas 15 to 10.
Felix Pena(5-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 innings and allowing 2
runs. Ariel Jurado(2-12) was the loser. With this win, New York (AL) has a
40-55 record. They have been 5-5 lately. Texas has a record of 34-63 after
the loss.

base hits at Marlins Park where the Miami Marlins beat the New York (NL) Mets

Miami jumped out to the early lead in the first inning scoring one runner on 2
base hits. After an out was recorded, Juan Soto drew a walk. Lourdes
Gurriel was next and he doubled. Scott Kingery then hit a deep fly scoring
the run. Miami finished with 12 hits while New York (NL) ended up with 3.
Wheeler(11-3) allowed 1 run in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Cole
Hamels(4-8) was the losing pitcher. He gave up 7 hits and 2 walks in 5 and

lost, St. Louis did out-hit Tampa Bay 9 to 5.

to 4.50. Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 4th inning with no runs
scored after that point.
The loss was charged to Adrian Sampson(3-11). He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings

Third baseman Matt Chapman hit a homerun as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the
Minnesota Twins by the score of 4 to 3 at Target Field.
Minnesota was unable to recover after Toronto went ahead in the top of the 3rd
inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. Minnesota threatened in the 9th
but their rally came up short.
The victory was credited to Matt Boyd(12-6) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. Boyd was helped out by Roberto Osuna who recorded his 16th save.
German Marquez(10-6) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 4 walks
in 5 innings.
'Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us today' Minnesota's
manager said. 'We take these games one day at a time, but this one was hard
to take.'

Mancini then slapped a one-base hit scoring the run. Chicago (AL) had just 4
hits for the afternoon.
The victory went to Tony Gonsolin(4-2) who went 3 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. The loss was charged to Carlos Martinez(4-4) in relief. He gave up 1
run and no hits without retiring a batter.

Jeff Samardzija delivered 7 solid innings at Minute Maid Park as the Detroit
Tigers belted the pathetic Houston Astros by the count of 11 to 1.
Harold Castro provided much of the offense. He doubled in the 3rd inning,
doubled which brought home a run in the 6th inning and doubled plating two
runs in the 9th inning. Detroit had many opportunities throughout the game
and scored in 6 separate innings.
The winning pitcher was Samardzija(6-9) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. The
losing pitcher was Adam Wainwright(1-11). He pitched 4 and 2/3 innings
allowing 6 hits and 3 walks.

the 6th inning and smacked a three-run homer in the 9th inning. Colorado had
11 hits overall, while Milwaukee had 5.
The win was credited to Sale(7-5) who went 7 innings allowing 2 runs. Tommy
Kahnle earned his 3rd save. John Means(11-7) absorbed the loss. He pitched
7 innings and surrendered 7 hits and 2 walks.
Sale was asked about his big strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd
when you rack up these numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running
tally in the stands, everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange -
but it's nice to be able to take the crowd out of the game.'

Chase Anderson(9-5) went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. The
losing pitcher was Jason Vargas(1-4). He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 innings of
work.
With the win, San Diego continued their winning ways; their streak now stands
at 6 games and counting. San Diego's manager was clearly happy after the game

Cleveland ended up with 15 hits for the game while Kansas City had 5.
Zack Godley(2-9) took the loss. Cleveland scored big getting 6 runs off him
in 3 and 1/3 innings. The Cleveland ballclub's record now stands at 51-46.
Kansas City has a record of 48-49 after the loss.
