Jake Cave collected 4 RBI with one swing of the bat at Camden Yards as the New
York (AL) Yankees belted the Baltimore Orioles by the count of 17 to 5.
The Baltimore fans didn't appreciate the big day Cave had. He laced a
base-knock in the 1st inning and quieted the crowd by clouting a Grand Slam
in the 5th inning. New York (AL) bats were very productive in the 2nd inning

Anthony Bass had an impressive outing and Josh Bell cracked a homer and had 5
RBI as the Atlanta Braves bested the reeling Texas Rangers 11 to 6 at Globe
Life Park.
Bell provided the offensive punch. He doubled in the 1st inning, doubled
plating two runs in the 6th inning and belted a three-run homer in the 9th
inning. The game was a wild affair with the lead changing hands 5 times.
Will Harris(10-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning. The loss
was charged to Keone Kela(0-4) in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning
allowing 1 hit and 2 walks.

Cardinals beat the awful Washington Nationals by a score of 2 to

Flaherty(6-4) simply dominated Washington. He didn't give up much, just 1 hit
and no walks in 8 innings. Flaherty struckout 9 Washington batters improving
his ERA from 3.11 to 2.90. The right-handed Flaherty lost his chance for a
no-hitter when Brian Goodwin doubled with one out in the 7th inning. St.
Louis had just 4 hits for the night.
Brandon Workman recorded the save, his 20th. Jefry Rodriguez(0-3) absorbed
the loss. He surrendered 2 runs and 3 hits in 5 and 2/3 innings.
With this win, St. Louis has a division leading 54-33 record. They have been

Soler really lit it up for Colorado. The Pittsburgh fans let him have it for
what he did to their boys. He cracked a two-run shot in the 1st inning and
launched a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th inning. Colorado ended up with 11
hits for the game while Pittsburgh had 5.
The win was credited to Chris Sale(6-5) who went 6 and 1/3 innings allowing 1
run. The losing pitcher was Max Scherzer(10-5). He surrendered 4 hits and 2

separated the combatants at game's end. The Boston Red Sox were certainly
pleased to stop the bleeding as their 5 game losing streak was finally halted
and won by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
The score was tied at 4 after nine. Boston won it in the 10th inning. Dee
Gordon hit a bases-empty home run resulting in an exciting win for Boston and
a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Boston had only 6 hits
for the afternoon.
The victory was credited to Matt Barnes(4-2) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Yusmeiro Petit(1-6) ended up with the loss in relief. He
gave up 2 hits and no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings.
'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially
sweet' offered Boston's manager. Now, we just have to make this the norm -
not the exception!'

Gray(10-2) was simply too much for the Miami batters. He allowed only 1 hit
and 2 walks in 8 innings. The right-handed Gray had his no-hit bid broken up
by Nico Hoerner who homered with two outs in the 7th inning. Oakland banged
out 11 hits on the afternoon.
Chris Paddack(3-10) was the loser. He surrendered 2 runs and 7 hits in 6 and

action when he singled. Justin Turner came next and he lined a single.
Fernando Tatis Jr then lofted a three-run 'big-fly'. San Diego finished with

Matt Bowman preserved the game for Hamels, recording his his 4th save. Zach
Eflin(7-8) was charged with the loss. Hamels was jubilant in the hometown
clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out there. The fans gave me a lot of support
as did my teammates. We got the victory and I'll sure take 10 strikeouts
anytime!'

Freddie Freeman cleared three ducks from a very crowded pond with a grand slam
as the Minnesota Twins topped the Detroit Tigers by a score of 7 to 3 at
Comerica Park.
Freeman was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He slapped a one-base hit in the 1st
inning and emptied the bases with a Grand Slam homerun in the 7th inning.
Detroit had 12 hits in the game while Minnesota had 9, but Minnesota had the
more timely hits.
The win was credited to Jake Junis(8-7) who went 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 2
runs. The losing pitcher was Jeff Samardzija(5-8). He allowed 3 runs and 6

Trevor Gott gained credit for his 9th save. Walker Buehler(8-6) was given
