In a two run game the Baltimore Orioles got by the Houston Astros by the score

Mychal Givens(2-2) earned the victory with a fine relief performance. He
allowed only 1 hit and no walks in 2 and 2/3 innings and recorded 4
strikeouts reducing his ERA from 3.66 to 3.22. Houston went down without a
fight in the 9th.
Darwinzon Hernandez(0-5) absorbed the loss in relief. While he was the losing
pitcher, he still struck out 4 batters in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Baltimore now has a record of 25-38. With the loss Houston now has a record
of 19-44, worst in the division.

New York (AL) surrendered all of the runs Tampa Bay needed in the 3rd inning
scoring 5 runners on 4 hits. That was all the offense they were to need.
Both teams' bats went to sleep after the 3rd inning with no runs scored after
that point.
The victory was credited to Martin Perez(7-0) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Nick Anderson earned his 6th save. Gio Gonzalez(4-6)
suffered the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 2 and 2/3 innings.
The Tampa Bay ballclub's record now stands at a division leading 43-22. With

Austin Meadows smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Pittsburgh Pirates
defeated the St. Louis Cardinals in 10 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at PNC
Park.
The score was knotted at 4 after nine innings. Pittsburgh came out the victor
in the 10th inning. After two were out Meadows lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' resulting in an exciting win for Pittsburgh and a wild post-game
celebration by the home town fans. Both teams ended up with 5 hits on the
night.
Kirby Yates(3-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing no
runs. The losing pitcher was Adam Ottavino(1-3) in relief.

In a close game it was the Toronto Blue Jays 5, the Texas Rangers 3 at Rogers
Centre.
Texas was unable to claim the lead after Toronto went ahead in the bottom of
the 6th inning scoring one runner using 2 hits. Texas had a chance to come
back in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory went to Daniel Norris(6-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Norris got help from Javy Guerra who was credited with his 7th save. Madison
Bumgarner(8-7) ended up with the loss.

1 walk in 8 innings seeing his ERA drop from 4.83 to 4.40. Milwaukee out-hit
Boston for the game, 16 hits to 4.
Ty Buttrey(3-4) was charged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning
allowing 4 hits and no walks.

In a dramatic ending, the Cincinnati Reds staged a comeback win over the
Chicago (NL) Cubs by the count of 7 to 4.
Cincinnati scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning when they
tallied 5 runs on 2 hits. The highlight belonged to Josh Donaldson who
brought a roar from the partisan Great American Bpk fans when he emptied the
bases with a Grand Slam homerun. Cincinnati rapped out 10 hits for the
night.
Brad Peacock(2-1) got the win allowing 1 run in 2 innings. Rowan Wick(2-3) was
tagged with the loss in relief. He pitched 1/3 of an inning giving up 2 hits
and 1 walk.
'Wow, that was fun!', Peacock said following the game. 'Once in a while you
play a game that reminds you just why you got into this business to begin
with!'

Christian Yelich slammed 2 homeruns as the Seattle Mariners defeated the Miami
Marlins 9 to 7 at Marlins Park.
Yelich was unconscious out there. While Miami pitching was serving softballs
up there for him to hit, the Miami fans were serving up some hardball barbs
when he entered the batter's box. But he just used it as fuel for the fire.
He delivered a solo blast in the 4th inning, doubled scoring a run in the 6th
inning and depressed the partisan hometown fans with a grand slam home run in
the 7th inning. Although they lost, Miami did out-hit Seattle 13 to 9.
Spencer Turnbull(8-1) went 5 innings allowing 3 runs for the win. Shane Greene
recorded his 12th save. Domingo German(5-3) was hit with the loss.
Yelich said, 'It was just all timing. I had pretty good rhythm at the plate
tonight. You've got to take advantage of mistakes when you can. A couple
pitches were definitely up a little bit - right in my zone.'

Michael Brantley hit a homerun and had 2 RBI and Michael Pineda struck out 10
batters at SunTrust Park as the Atlanta Braves beat the Philadelphia Phillies
by the count of 3 to 0.
Pineda(3-6) was tremendous on the mound for Atlanta. He didn't give up much,
just 2 hits and 3 walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA from 4.90 to 4.38.
Overall Atlanta out-hit Philadelphia 10 to 3.
Pineda got relief help from Alex Colome who gained credit for his 11th save.
Joey Lucchesi(5-5) absorbed the loss. He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings and
surrendered 8 hits and 1 walk.
The Atlanta fans were thrilled by the performance put forth by Pineda, but it
was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10
strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a loud cheer.'
Atlanta's manager said following the game.

Luis Cessa(4-5) did what was required of him in relief and came away with the
win. He was reached for 3 hits and 2 walks in 2 innings. Chicago (AL)
proved to be no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.
Chad Green was credited with his 5th save. Kenley Jansen(0-4) suffered the
loss in relief. Despite the loss, he struckout 4 Detroit batters in 1 and
2/3 innings.
Wth the win Detroit now has a record of 23-40. With the loss, the Chicago
(AL) ballclub's record is 29-35.

Anibal Sanchez didn't allow a hit until the 7th inning and Brandon Lowe
touched them all and had 2 RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks topped the San
Diego Padres by a score of 4 to 0 at Chase Field.
Sanchez(6-3) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
San Diego batters. He allowed just 1 hit and 2 walks in 7 innings improving
his ERA from 2.48 to 2.26. The right-handed Sanchez had his no-hit bid
broken up by Fernando Tatis Jr who singled with two outs in the 7th inning.
For the game Arizona out-hit San Diego 6 to 3.
Aroldis Chapman earned the save, his 15th. Jake Arrieta(2-6) took the loss.
He allowed 4 runs and 6 hits in 7 and 2/3 innings.

had 3 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Francisco Lindor
who quieted the crowd when he banged out a single bringing home two
baserunners. Kelley came throught with a perfect ninth inning to earn his
1st save.

runs. Joe Ross(1-4) ended up with the loss. Cleveland continued on their
