Charlie Morton racked up an impressive total of 10 strikeouts and Adeiny
Hechavarria went yard as the Atlanta Braves defeated the awful Washington
Nationals 5 to 4 at Nationals Park.
Will Harris(7-0) got the win with a nice relief outing. He allowed just 1 hit
and no walks in 1 and 1/3 innings. Atlanta banged out 7 hits on the night.
Harris got relief help from Alex Colome who gained credit for his 14th save.
Luis Garcia(1-5) was the losing pitcher in relief.
With this win, Atlanta has a division leading 48-27 record. They have been
6-4 lately. With the loss, the Washington ballclub's record is 24-51, worst
in the division.

fine pitching duel at Citi Field. The Philadelphia Phillies eventually
emerged as victors over the floundering New York (NL) Mets by the score of 2
to 0.
Philadelphia promptly took the lead in their half of the first when they
tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Bauer
and Philadelphia. That was all the run support Bauer required. Neither team
managed to score after the 1st inning.
Brad Hand earned the save, his 12th. Wth the win Philadelphia now has a
record of 29-45. Not able to get much going in recent weeks, New York (NL)
is 1-9 of late and now has an overall record of 28-47.

The Miami Marlins and the San Francisco Giants locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Marlins Park. The final score was the Miami Marlins 5, the
San Francisco Giants 4 in 10 innings.
Both teams had scored 4 runs after nine full innings. Miami ended up winning
it in the 10th inning. Robinson Cano cracked a solo homerun giving Miami the
victory and sending the 13,854 home-town fans home happy. Despite losing,
San Francisco out-hit Miami 12 to 7.
Casey Sadler(4-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing
no runs. The loss was charged to Yimi Garcia(3-6) in relief.

It was a wild 13 inning evening in Target Field where the Minnesota Twins
defeated the New York (AL) Yankees by the score of 11 to 10.
The score was knotted at 9 after nine innings. Minnesota won it in the 13th
inning. Luis Arraez drew a walk. Freddie Freeman struck out, unable to help
the rally. Kyle Schwarber then smacked a single. Jesse Winker followed next
and he laced a base-knock making Minnesota the winners and sending the 28,075
fans home happy. Minnesota finished with 15 hits in the victory.
The win went to Hansel Robles(1-5) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Jonathan Holder(0-2) was given the loss in relief.

First baseman Eric Hosmer smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Jake Diekman
quieted any hopes that Colorado may have had of a comeback as the San Diego
Padres defeated the Colorado Rockies by the score of 14 to 12 at Coors
Field.
The Colorado fans didn't appreciate the big day Hosmer had. He laced a single
in the 2nd inning, smashed a solo-shot out of the park in the 6th inning and
launched a three-run homer in the 6th inning. Diekman was perfect in the
ninth giving him his 11th save on the season.
Matt Magill(3-3) allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Phillip Diehl(0-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He
surrendered 4 runs and 2 hits without retiring a batter.
'I felt great out there tonight' Hosmer said. 'I was seeing the ball
perfectly, and I was right on it with my swing.
MILWAUKEE AT ARIZONA

Maeda(11-3) was tremendous on the mound for Arizona. He gave up just 3 hits
and 1 walk in 7 innings. Arizona had 13 hits for the game and Milwaukee had
5.
Freddy Peralta(0-2) took the loss. He pitched 5 innings giving up 6 hits and
2 walks. Maeda was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun
out there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got
the victory and I'll sure take 12 strikeouts anytime!'

Baltimore Orioles broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 2
to 1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
The game was won by Baltimore with a run in the 9th inning. Jonathan Schoop
stroked a one-base hit. Miguel Cabrera stepped up to the plate and he drew a
walk. Steve Wilkerson then drew a walk to load the bases. Chance Sisco
stepped in and he drew a walk resulting in a mighty exciting win for
Baltimore and the 24,200 home town fans in attendance. Baltimore had only 5
hits for the game.
The win was credited to Paul Fry(3-2) who went 1 inning allowing no runs. Jose
Alvarado(0-1) suffered the loss in relief. He allowed 1 run and 1 hit in 2/3

After two outs Matt Chapman jump-started the rally as he drew a walk. Wil
Myers came to the plate and cracked a two-run shot. Pittsburgh threatened in
the 9th but Toronto was able to put down the rally.
Marcus Stroman(6-6) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 1/3 innings and
allowing 4 runs. Stroman got relief help from Roberto Osuna who gained credit
for his 10th save. Trevor Williams(3-10) took the loss. He allowed 3
homeruns in 7 innings of work.

up winning it in the 11th inning. After an out was recorded, Paul
Goldschmidt started the attack as he banged out a single. Harold Ramirez
came to the plate and doubled. Narvaez then ripped a base-knock driving in
two more baserunners. Cleveland was retired without difficulty in the bottom
of the 11th.
Gonsolin(3-2) went 3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Wandy
Peralta(3-2) was charged with the loss in relief. He pitched 2 innings

Ian Kennedy was credited with his 17th save. Trevor Cahill(2-9) took the
loss. Houston's manager was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain
but did you see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to
start calling the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'
