Evan Longoria launched 3 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers
outscored the Minnesota Twins 12 to 6.
Longoria provided much of the offense. He laced a base-knock in the 2nd
inning, hit a bases-empty home run in the 4th inning, lifted one out of the
park for a two run home run in the 5th inning and lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' in the 8th inning. Milwaukee simply wore out the Minnesota
pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
Yonny Chirinos(6-9) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and
allowing 4 runs. The losing pitcher was David Price(4-6). He was unable to
control the Milwaukee offense and allowed 10 hits and 2 walks in 5 and 1/3
innings.
'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially
sweet' offered Milwaukee's manager. Now, we just have to make this the norm

Jean Segura touched them all and had 3 RBI as the Kansas City Royals defeated
the Texas Rangers 6 to 2 at Globe Life Park.
Segura provided the offensive punch. He doubled in the 1st inning, singled in
the 5th inning and belted a three-run homer in the 9th inning. Overall
Kansas City out-hit Texas 10 to 6.
The win was credited to Dylan Bundy(5-8) who went 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 1
run. Tim Hill recorded the save, his 2nd. Madison Bumgarner(9-8) was charged
with the loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings giving up 7 hits and 3 walks.

Maikel Franco had 5 hits as the Washington Nationals were badly beaten by the
San Francisco Giants, 11 to 1.
Franco enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He stroked a single in the 2nd
inning, blasted a Grand Slam homerun in the 3rd inning, slapped a base-hit in
the 5th inning, doubled in the 7th inning and delivered a one-base hit in the
9th inning. Washington was out-hit by San Francisco, 19 hits to 10.
The victory went to Zach Eflin(7-7) who went 5 and 2/3 innings, allowing 1
run. Sam Gaviglio earned the save, his 2nd. Reynaldo Lopez(3-8) suffered the
loss. He got hit hard, allowing 7 hits and 2 walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Center fielder Avisail Garcia slammed 2 homeruns as the Philadelphia Phillies
beat the Miami Marlins by a score of 6 to 0.
It was a good day for Philadelphia thanks to Garcia. He slapped a single in
the 2nd inning, cracked a solo homerun in the 6th inning and ripped a solo
home run in the 8th inning. Philadelphia ended up with 9 hits for the game
while Miami had 4.
Joey Lucchesi(6-6) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 7 innings. Chris
Paddack(3-8) ended up with the loss. The Philadelphia ballclub's record now
stands at 27-45. With this loss, Miami has a 5-5 record of late, 35-38
overall.

Gio Gonzalez didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning as the New York (AL)
Yankees defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 2 to 0 at PNC
Park.
Gonzalez(5-6) was solid in the win. He allowed only 2 hits and 1 walk in 7
innings. The left-handed Gonzalez lost his no-hit bid when Jordan Luplow
singled with two outs in the 6th inning. New York (AL) had only 5 hits for
the night.
Giovanny Gallegos got the save, his 8th. Andrew Heaney(4-1) absorbed the
loss. Despite losing, he struckout 9 New York (AL) batters in 6 innings.
With this win, New York (AL) has a 27-47 record. They have been 6-4 lately.
With the loss Pittsburgh now has a record of 40-33.

Jordy Mercer had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at Rogers Centre as the Toronto Blue
Jays won in their last at-bat beating the Tampa Bay Rays by the count of 7 to
6.
The game was won by Toronto when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning. Mercer stroked a base-hit. Adam Conley then let one get away for a
wild pitch. Danny Jansen was a strikeout victim, unable to help out. Bo
Bichette was up next and he drew a walk. Danny Santana came up to bat and
was hit by a pitch. Anthony Rizzo did his part to keep things going and was
hit by a pitch making Toronto victorious to the delight of the the home town
crowd. Toronto rapped out 8 hits for the night.
Javy Guerra(4-4) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Conley(0-3) was
hit with the loss in relief. He allowed 1 hit and no walks in 2/3 of an
inning.

The Boston Red Sox defeated the Atlanta Braves by a score of 5 to 2 at Fenway
Park.
Atlanta never recovered after Boston took the lead in the bottom of the 5th
inning scoring one runner. Atlanta out-hit Boston 11 to 8, but Boston ended
up with more runs.
Tyson Ross(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 5 and 2/3 innings. Luke Bard
earned his 1st save. Michael Pineda(4-7) was the loser. Wth the win Boston
now has a record of 30-45. Atlanta has a record of 47-27 after the loss.

homeruns. Blake Parker was perfect in the ninth giving him his 6th save on
the season.
Jose Urena(4-5) took the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 6 innings.

Mike Fiers(6-5) pitched well enough to earn the win. He went 5 and 1/3
innings and surrended up 7 hits and 3 walks. Chicago (NL) managed 8 hits in
their victory.
Mark Melancon preserved the game for Fiers, recording his his 6th save. Brett
Anderson(5-8) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered 3 runs and 8 hits in 8
innings.

In a thrilling finish the St. Louis Cardinals won in dramatic fashion coming
back to beat the Colorado Rockies by the count of 4 to 3.
St. Louis erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 2 runs on 4 base hits. After an out was recorded, Howie Kendrick
began the St. Louis spurt when he slapped a one-base hit. After another out,
Scott Oberg then had one get away for a wild pitch. Carson Kelly then laced
a base-hit bringing in a run. Eddie Rosario came up and he lined a single.
Oscar Mercado stepped into the box and delivered a base-hit giving St. Louis
the victory and sending the 42,221 home-town fans home happy. St. Louis
finished with 8 hits in the victory.
The victory went to Tyler Clippard(2-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs.
Oberg(0-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. St. Louis' manager was in great
spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when asked about his feelings after
the thrilling comeback victory, he volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I
know how my counterpart, Colorado's manager, feels right now - and it's not
very good. It's terrible when you come up on the short end of one of these!'

The incredible Seattle Mariners bested the Houston Astros by a 5 to 2 score at
T-Mobile Park.
Spencer Turnbull(9-1) gave a fine effort for Seattle. He went 5 and 2/3
innings surrendering 4 hits and 1 walk. Turnbull chalked up 8 strikeouts
dropping his ERA from 4.71 to 4.48. Houston was out-hit by Seattle, 10 hits
to 7.
Ken Giles earned his 10th save. Jhoulys Chacin(3-8) was the losing pitcher.
He was not very effective, surrendering 4 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.
LOS ANGELES(AL) AT OAKLAND

The powerful Oakland Athletics put 9 runs on the scoreboard in the 5th inning
and cruised to a 13 to 6 victory over the slumping Los Angeles(AL) Angels at
RingCentral Coliseum.
Oakland came up with 9 runs in the 5th inning when they had 5 base hits. The
key at-bat was by Ramon Laureano who made the Oakland fans a happy lot when
he stroked a base-hit bringing home two baserunners. Both teams ended up
with 13 hits on the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Tyler Skaggs(4-1) who allowed 5 runs in 5 and 2/3
innings. Jose Suarez(1-1) took the loss in relief. He was knocked around,
surrendering 5 runs in 2 innings.

In a game at Progressive Field the Baltimore Orioles put a halt to their 5
game losing streak and got by the Cleveland Indians by the score of 8 to
5.
Cleveland found themselves trailing quickly as the Baltimore bats came through
in the first inning scoring 2 runners on 1 hit. The key at-bat was by
Shin-Soo Choo who silenced Progressive Field as he laced a base-hit plating
two runs. Cleveland threatened in the 9th but Baltimore was able to put down
the rally.
The win went to Zach Davies(3-6) who allowed 2 runs in 7 innings. Mychal
Givens got the save, his 10th. Adam Plutko(0-2) was charged with the loss.
Baltimore knocked him around a bit, as he gave up 7 runs in 5 and 2/3

Park.
Correa led the offense for Cincinnati. He laced a single in the 2nd inning,
lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in the 6th inning and cracked a two-run shot
in the 8th inning. Cincinnati managed 12 hits in their victory.
The winning pitcher was Liam Hendriks(4-4) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Justin Wilson gained credit for his 1st save. Jake Arrieta(3-7)
suffered the loss. He served up 4 gopher balls in 7 and 1/3 innings.
The winning ways continue for Cincinnati. They now have a record of 8-2 in
recent days. San Diego has a record of 37-38 after the loss.

In a game at Dodger Stadium the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers were certainly pleased
to stop the bleeding as their 5 game losing streak was finally halted and got
by the Arizona Diamondbacks by the score of 4 to 1.
Los Angeles(NL) scored 2 runs in the bottom of the 2nd inning when they had 3
base hits. Daniel Murphy led off and keyed the rally when he smacked a
single. After an out was recorded, Blake Swihart came to bat and smacked a
single, and an error was also committed. Carlos Gonzalez dug into the
batters box next, but he struck out. Dansby Swanson followed and he was
walked intentionally to load the bases. Dan Straily came to the plate and
ripped a one-base hit knocking home two runners. That was all the offense
they were to need. Los Angeles(NL) finished with just 6 hits in the victory.
Straily(1-3) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 5 innings. Yoan Lopez
recorded the save, his 2nd. Julio Teheran(7-4) absorbed the loss.
Los Angeles(NL)'s manager was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad
streak of games -- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe
we can relax a little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'
