Tom Murphy had a big day at the plate. He rifled a three-run blast in the 1st
inning and tripled bringing home two baserunners in the 3rd inning. San
Francisco out-hit Miami for the game, 11 hits to 3.
Trevor Richards(1-7) was charged with the loss. He allowed 6 hits and 4 walks

Clayton Kershaw carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning and Willie Calhoun had
4 hits at Citizens Bank Park where the Oakland Athletics beat the
Philadelphia Phillies by the score of 8 to 2.
Kershaw(11-1) was very good in the win. He gave up just 3 hits and 2 walks in
8 innings. Kershaw chalked up 12 strikeouts. The left-handed Kershaw lost
his chance for a no-hitter when Yandy Diaz homered with two outs in the 6th
inning. Oakland had 11 hits for the game and Philadelphia had 3.
Trevor Bauer(5-8) took the loss. 'I had my good stuff today.' Kershaw said.
'As the game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going to
strike out a bunch of hitters.'

In an exciting finish the Kansas City Royals pulled out a win over the
Minnesota Twins by a score of 4 to 3 at Kauffman Stadium.
Kansas City won the game with a run in the 9th inning. After two outs Jean
Segura laced a one-base hit. Juan Lagares stepped into the batter's box and
he doubled resulting in an exciting win for Kansas City and a raucous
post-game celebration by the home town fans. Kansas City had 11 hits
overall, while Minnesota had 4.
Juan Nicasio(3-1) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the victory. The losing
pitcher was Hansel Robles(0-5) in relief. He surrendered 4 hits and no walks
in 1 inning.

The hometown crowd was rewarded with a dramatic ending, as the Texas Rangers
staged a comeback win over the Cleveland Indians by the count of 8 to
7.
Texas came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs
using 3 hits. After an out was recorded, Cameron Maybin began the rally when
he doubled. Rougned Odor stepped up next and he banged out a single which
scored a run. Odor was safe on a stolen base. Charlie Blackmon was up next
and he stroked a one-base hit making Texas victorious to the delight of the
the home town crowd. Texas simply wore out the Cleveland pitching staff,
scoring in 6 different innings.
The victory was credited to Junior Guerra(3-1) who went 1/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. The losing pitcher was Kyle Crick(2-2) in relief.
With this win, Texas has a 30-41 record. They have been 4-6 lately. With
this loss, Cleveland has a 6-4 record of late, 39-32 overall.

to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Josh Hader gained credit for his 13th save. Cole Hamels(3-5) was hit with the
loss. He allowed 5 hits and 2 walks in 7 innings.
The Washington ballclub's record now stands at 23-47. New York (NL) has a

Cole Irvin had a strong outing at Comerica Park as the Detroit Tigers
embarrassed the Toronto Blue Jays by the lopsided score of 16 to 6.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Adalberto Mondesi. He smashed a two-run homer in the 3rd inning
and delivered a single which brought home a run in the 7th inning. Detroit
lit up the scoreboard in the 4th inning with 5 runs on 6 hits and the 7th
inning which saw them score 4 runs on 4 hits. Detroit out-hit Toronto for
the game, 20 hits to 9.
The win was credited to Irvin(1-2) who went 7 innings allowing no runs. Marcus
Stroman(5-6) took the loss. He got hit hard, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in
3 and 2/3 innings.

The Houston offense proved no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.

Tampa Bay Rays scored 6 runs in a winning effort at Tropicana Field.
Paxton had a solid outing for Tampa Bay. He allowed 2 hits and 4 walks in 5
and 1/3 innings. Paxton recorded 9 strikeouts reducing his ERA from 4.93 to
4.61. Tampa Bay had just 6 hits for the afternoon.
Paxton was helped out by Michael Lorenzen who recorded his 7th save. David
Hess(4-6) took the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 6 and 2/3 innings.
Tampa Bay now has a record of a division leading 48-24. With the loss, the
Baltimore ballclub's record is 28-42.

scoreless duel until the 6th inning.

Patrick Corbin reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts and George Springer jacked
one out of the ballyard and had 4 RBI at SunTrust Park where the Atlanta
Braves beat the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by the score of 9 to 0.
Springer had a big evening at the plate. He launched a three-run homer in the
5th inning and doubled knocking in a run in the 7th inning. Atlanta out-hit
Los Angeles(NL) for the game, 10 hits to 3.
The win went to Corbin(6-5) who allowed no runs in 8 innings. Shelby
Miller(0-2) ended up with the loss. Corbin was pleased with his performance.
He noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was
right on. The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me.
Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.'

Center fielder Max Kepler hit a homerun and Zack Greinke delivered 6 solid
innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied impressively to win in dramatic
style over Colorado Rockies, 6 to 5.
Pittsburgh had the game winning rally in the 9th inning plating 2 runs on 2
base hits. Cole Tucker kicked off the action when he ripped a one-base hit.
Joey Votto was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Anthony Rendon
then smacked a single. One out later, Kepler came to the plate and drew a
walk to load the bases. Trent Grisham stepped into the box and drew a walk
knocking in a run. Scott Oberg then let one get away for a wild pitch
scoring the final run of the inning. Overall Pittsburgh out-hit Colorado 9
to 5.
The victory went to Archie Bradley(5-0) who went 2 innings, allowing 2 runs.
Bradley got help from Kirby Yates who was credited with his 16th save. The
loss was charged to Oberg(0-1) in relief. His ERA ballooned from 1.52 to
2.19 as he allowed 2 runs in 1 inning.
Pittsburgh's manager was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in his
office after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the
crowd just sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are
celebrating wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird.
but GREAT!'

Yelich enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He hit a bases-empty home run in
the 3rd inning, doubled in the 6th inning and clubbed a solo home run in the
8th inning. Seattle had 9 hits overall, while Los Angeles(AL) had 6.
The victory went to Lynn(8-1) who went 8 innings, allowing 1 run. Griffin
Canning(5-1) was given the loss. Lynn was humble when questioned about his
performance, 'Well, I felt pretty confident in my pitches tonight. But, I
had great support behind me and I just threw what was called. That was an
extremely well called game!'

The Arizona Diamondbacks pitching staff gave the fans an evening that they'll
never forget by tossing a combined no-hitter! The tension started to build
around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was electrified and
chalked up 9 strikeouts. Arizona banged out 9 hits on the night.
The victory went to Kenta Maeda(9-3) who went 7 innings, allowing no runs.
Chase Anderson(6-4) suffered the loss. Despite the loss, he struckout 9
Arizona batters in 5 and 2/3 innings.
'You probably have a better chance of winning the lottery than this
happening,' said Maeda who got credit for the win, 'I don't expect it to sink
in for awhile.' he said. 'You know, it's hard to say who was better, the
starter or the bullpen!'
