At Globe Life Park the Texas Rangers outdistanced the Los Angeles(AL) Angels
by a final score of 6 to 2.
Texas scored 3 runs in the decisive bottom of the 3rd inning with the help of
3 hits. Todd Frazier kicked off the action when he delivered a one-base hit.
Lewis Brinson came to the plate and laced a base-hit. Cameron Maybin dug
into the batters box next, but he struck out. Rougned Odor followed and he
launched a three-run homer. That was all the offense they were to need.
Texas out-hit Los Angeles(AL) for the game, 14 hits to 7.
Madison Bumgarner(8-6) got the win allowing 2 runs in 8 innings. Nathan
Eovaldi(1-1) took the loss in relief. He gave up 4 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings

Lucas Giolito had an impressive outing at Nationals Park as the Washington
Nationals belted the Milwaukee Brewers by the count of 14 to 2.
The Washington fans enjoyed the offense provided by Brandon Dixon. He
delivered a single resulting in a run in the 2nd inning and caught a hold of
a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun in the 8th inning. Washington had 15
hits for the game and Milwaukee had 5.
Giolito(4-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 2
runs. John Means(8-4) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 2/3 of an inning
giving up 7 hits and no walks.

In a thriling finish the Chicago (NL) Cubs pulled off the win over the
Cincinnati Reds by a score of 4 to 3 at Wrigley Field.
The game was won by Chicago (NL) when they scored a run in the bottom of the
9th inning. Renato Nunez lined a single. Travis D'Arnaud next to the plate
and he reached on an error. Charlie Culberson then ripped a one-base hit
giving Chicago (NL) the victory as 42,633 happy fans celebrated wildly.
Cincinnati out-hit Chicago (NL) 9 to 6, but Chicago (NL) ended up with more
runs.
T.J. Zeuch(7-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Liam Hendriks(3-3) suffered the loss in relief. When questioned, Chicago
(NL)'s manager remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt this good -
heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'

James Paxton(6-2) went 7 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Trevor Gott
preserved the game for Paxton, recording his his 6th save. The loss was
charged to Marco Gonzales(7-4). He got hammered, allowing 9 hits and 5 walks
in 6 and 2/3 innings.

Gerrit Cole mowed down 17 Toronto batters and Tommy Pham had 2 base hits and 3
RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Toronto Blue Jays by a score of 8

Cole(7-3) was very good in the win. He didn't allow much, just 7 hits and no
walks in 8 innings. St. Louis banged out 8 hits on the night.
Marcus Stroman(4-5) took the loss. St. Louis scored big getting 6 runs off
him in 4 and 2/3 innings. Cole was pleased with his performance. He noted,
'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on.
The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can
only do that again in my next outing.'

Jorge Soler smashed 2 homeruns and Stephen Strasburg whiffed 11 batters at
Chase Field as the seemingly unstoppable Colorado Rockies beat the Arizona
Diamondbacks 8 to 4.
Strasburg(7-0) pitched well for Colorado in their victory. He went 7 and 1/3
innings allowing 8 hits and 3 walks and served up 2 'big flies'. Colorado
finished with 10 hits in the victory.
The loss was charged to Tyler Chatwood(3-3). He was knocked around,
surrendering 6 runs in 3 and 2/3 innings. Strasburg was asked about his big
strikeout performance, 'Well, it's a little odd when you rack up these
numbers on the road - instead of cheers and a running tally in the stands,
everything gets real still and quiet. Just strange - but it's nice to be
able to take the crowd out of the game.'

That was all Tommy Milone(5-3) needed. Overall San Diego out-hit San
Francisco 13 to 9.
Asher Wojciechowski(2-8) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 6 hits and 3
walks in 6 innings.
