inning, popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 5th inning and ripped a
base-knock in the 7th inning. Overall Boston out-hit New York (AL) 11 to 6.
The win went to Lester(2-4) who allowed no runs in 8 innings. Gio
Gonzalez(2-4) was the losing pitcher. He allowed Boston 7 runs in 4 and 2/3
innings of work.
Lester didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he had
12 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a decent
total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty good,
isn't it?'

Ronald Acuna went deep and had 3 RBI as the Los Angeles(AL) Angels defeated
the floundering Baltimore Orioles by a score of 5 to 3 at Camden
Yards.
Acuna led the offense for Los Angeles(AL). He doubled bringing home two
baserunners in the 1st inning, laced a single in the 5th inning and hit a
bases-empty home run in the 7th inning. Los Angeles(AL) had 11 hits for the
afternoon while Baltimore had 8.
The victory went to Walker Buehler(4-1) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Buehler got help from Luke Jackson who earned his 9th save. Zach Davies(1-4)

Noah Syndergaard whiffed 12 batters and David Freese knocked 2 homeruns and
had 4 RBI at Tropicana Field as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Texas Rangers by
the count of 4 to 2.
It was a good day for Tampa Bay thanks to Freese. He cleared the fences for a
two-run home run in the 2nd inning, ripped a one-base hit in the 5th inning
and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 7th inning.
Tampa Bay had 11 hits overall, while Texas had 4.
The victory was credited to Syndergaard(5-2) who went 8 innings, allowing 2
runs. Syndergaard was helped out by Michael Lorenzen who recorded his 4th
save. Roenis Elias(0-2) absorbed the loss in relief.
Syndergaard was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on my
pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really got
into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that again
in my next outing.'

In an exciting finish the Pittsburgh Pirates pulled out a win over the
Philadelphia Phillies by a score of 5 to 4 at PNC Park.
Pittsburgh scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. Max Kepler clubbed a
solo home run making Pittsburgh victorious to the delight of the the home
town crowd. Pittsburgh ended up with 11 hits for the game while Philadelphia
had 6.
The win was credited to Archie Bradley(1-0) who went 1 inning allowing no
runs. Brad Hand(0-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run
and 2 hits in 1 inning.

Lance Lynn mowed down 12 Houston batters at Minute Maid Park where the Seattle
Mariners beat the Houston Astros in 11 innings by the score of 4 to 3.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Seattle won the hard
fought contest in the 11th inning. Dwight Smith Jr cracked a solo homerun.
Seattle finished with 11 hits while Houston ended up with 8.
Sergio Romo(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Ken
Giles was credited with his 5th save. Jose Urquidy(0-1) was the losing
pitcher in relief. He allowed just 1 run and 2 hits in 5 innings.
Seattle extended their winning streak to 6 games. Seattle's manager was in a
great frame of mind in the clubhouse after the game, 'Everybody's
contributing now. Timely hitting, some slick fielding plays and good
pitching when we need it. Man, when that's happening, this sure is an easy

the crowd when he tripled bringing in two baserunners. Kansas City ended up
with 10 hits for the game while Minnesota had 7.

Rainey earned his 1st save. The losing pitcher was Hunter Wood(0-1) in
relief.

topped the Cincinnati Reds by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
Colorado tallied 4 runs in the 6th inning with the help of 4 hits. The key
offensive moment was provided by Joe Panik who thrilled the crowd when he
doubled scoring two baserunners. Cincinnati had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.
Sam Dyson(3-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing 1
run. Dyson got relief help from Scott Oberg who gained credit for his 9th
save. Homer Bailey(3-2) ended up with the loss. He pitched 5 and 1/3

the 5th inning. Chicago (AL) had a chance to come back in the 9th but they
came up short.

scoring the run. Detroit was retired without difficulty in the bottom of the
9th.
