contest in the 11th inning. The highlight belonged to Rafael Devers who
silenced the stadium when he belted a three-run homer. Boston had a total of

Ty Buttrey(2-1) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing 3
runs. Nick Goody(0-3) took the loss in relief. He was the victim of a
defensive lapse and did not allow an earned run in the game.

Zack Greinke went 8 strong innings as the Pittsburgh Pirates bested the
Philadelphia Phillies 5 to 1 at PNC Park.
Greinke(5-3) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed just 4
hits and no walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA to 2.97. Pittsburgh managed
only 5 hits on the night.
Tyler Glasnow(3-1) was tagged with the loss. Pittsburgh now has a record of
18-19. Philadelphia has a record of 19-19 after the loss.

Mike Moustakas went deep and had 4 RBI as the Los Angeles(AL) Angels rallied
impressively to win in dramatic style over Baltimore Orioles, 9 to 8.
Los Angeles(AL) won the game with a rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs
using 4 hits. Ronald Acuna opened up the inning nicely when he laced a
single. Nicholas Castellanos got his chance to keep things going, but he
went down on strikes. Acuna took second on a stolen base. After another
out, Cesar Puello came to bat and lined a base-hit. Moustakas stepped into
the box and launched a three-run homer. The game was a wild affair with the
lead changing hands 5 times.
The victory went to Kyle Ryan(4-0) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing no
runs. Ryan got help from Luke Jackson who earned his 8th save. The loss was
charged to Mychal Givens(0-1) in relief. He saw his ERA jump from 3.65 to
4.73 as gave up 2 runs in 1 inning.
Los Angeles(AL)'s manager was feeling mighty fine as he answered questions in
his office after the game, 'Now that was one fine ending! Did you see how the
crowd just sat there in silence after the winning run scored? Here we are
celebrating wildly, and the stadium is cloaked in virtual silence. Weird.

Edwards Jr was helped out by Alex Colome who recorded his 6th save. The

until the 7th inning as the Seattle Mariners outscored the Houston Astros 10

Degrom(5-3) dominated Houston hitters. He allowed only 3 hits and 3 walks in
9 innings. Degrom whiffed an impressive total of 12 Houston batters seeing
his ERA drop from 5.37 to 4.72. The right-handed Degrom lost his no-hit bid
when Tommy La Stella homered with nobody out in the 7th inning. Seattle had
13 hits for the night.
Trevor Cahill(2-4) was given the loss. He pitched 1/3 of an inning and
surrendered 4 hits and no walks. Houston's manager lamented, 'Degrom was
really aggressive tonight. He kept coming after our hitters. Heck, why not.
he kept sitting our guys down one after another - like so many bowling pins!'

3.70 to 3.40. Marquez got help from Sean Doolittle who pitched a perfect
ninth and was credited with his 1st save.

just 4 hits and 2 walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA from 4.38 to 3.77.
Chicago (AL) finished with 10 hits while San Francisco ended up with 6.
Zach Eflin(4-3) was the losing pitcher. He pitched 5 and 2/3 innings giving
up 6 hits and 1 walk. Gray didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking
up. When told he had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew
that I had a decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say,
that's pretty good, isn't it?'

Clayton Kershaw racked up an impressive total of 12 strikeouts and Nelson Cruz
jacked one out of the ballyard and had 2 RBI at Comerica Park where the

Kershaw(6-0) was solid in the win. He surrendered only 7 hits and 3 walks in
8 innings. The pitchers took over after the 4th inning as neither team was
able to score again.
Carlos Carrasco(1-5) took the loss. He was touched for 10 hits and 3 walks in
3 and 1/3 innings. The Detroit fans were thrilled by the performance put
forth by Kershaw, but it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most.
'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a
loud cheer.' Detroit's manager said following the game.

Toronto Blue Jays topped the Oakland Athletics by the slimmest of margins, 6
to 5.
The game was decided in the top of the 8th inning. After an out was recorded,
Wil Myers hit a bases-empty home run. Toronto had 11 hits for the night.
Jairo Diaz(2-0) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the victory. Diaz
got relief help from Roberto Osuna who gained credit for his 6th save. Jose
Alvarez(1-1) was charged with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 1 hit
in 1 and 1/3 innings.
For Toronto, it was just another victory in their mounting winning streak.
'I'm glad to get the win', Diaz said. 'We've got some good momentum going
now.'
