24,622 fans were treated to a fine game at Nationals Park as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Arizona Diamondbacks won by the
slimmest of margins, 4 to 3.
Arizona won the game with a rally in the top of the 8th inning scoring 2 runs
on 3 hits. Yuli Gurriel started the inning off right when he doubled.
Brandon Lowe stepped up next and he doubled scoring a run. After another
out, Michael Perez got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on
strikes. Freddy Galvis came up and he delivered a one-base hit scoring the
final run of the inning. Arizona finished with 10 hits while Washington
ended up with 6.
Ryan Yarbrough(4-3) went 7 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Yarbrough
got help from Aroldis Chapman who was credited with his 8th save. Jalen
Beeks(2-1) absorbed the loss in relief.

Second baseman Jose Altuve hit one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the Tampa
Bay Rays outscored the Chicago (AL) White Sox 9 to 1.
Tampa Bay jumped on top to stay in the top of the 3rd inning when they scored
2 runs on 2 hits. That scoring would be all that was needed. Tampa Bay had
11 hits for the game and Chicago (AL) had 5.
The winning pitcher was Blake Snell(2-3) who allowed 1 run in 7 innings. Jose
Quintana(4-3) ended up with the loss. Tampa Bay scored big getting 5 runs
off him in 4 and 2/3 innings.
Tampa Bay now has a record of 23-16. With this loss, Chicago (AL) has a 3-7
record of late, 17-20 overall.

Roman Quinn slammed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers topped
the Miami Marlins in 11 innings by a score of 7 to 5 at Marlins Park.
Both teams had scored 5 runs after nine full innings. Milwaukee was
victorious in the 11th inning. After two were out Jared Walsh keyed the
rally when he drew a walk. Quinn came next and he clubbed a two-run home
run. Milwaukee had 12 hits for the night.
The victory went to Wei-Chung Wang(2-2) who went 1 and 2/3 innings, allowing
no runs. Will Smith was credited with his 8th save. Elieser Hernandez(0-3)
suffered the loss in relief.

In a game at Fenway Park the Los Angeles(AL) Angels got by the Boston Red Sox
by the score of 5 to 2.
Los Angeles(AL) wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they
tallied 2 runs on 2 hits. The key at-bat was by Cesar Puello who deflated
the mood of the partisan fans when he bombed a two-run dinger. Although they
lost, Boston did out-hit Los Angeles(AL) 9 to 6.
A.J. Minter(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing 1 run in 3 innings. Minter
got relief help from Zack Britton who gained credit for his 5th save. The
loss was charged to Derek Holland(0-6). Los Angeles(AL) knocked him around a
bit, as he gave up 5 runs in 3 innings.

One run was the difference at Minute Maid Park as the Seattle Mariners
defeated the Houston Astros 4 to 3.
Seattle scored 3 runs in the top of the 5th inning with the help of 4 hits.
It was enough to earn the victory. Houston had a chance in the 9th but they
came up short.
The victory was credited to Spencer Turnbull(7-0) who went 6 innings, allowing
1 run. Sergio Romo earned the save, his 1st. Jhoulys Chacin(2-4) was tagged
with the loss. He pitched 4 innings giving up 6 hits and 3 walks.
'This was a tough loss,' said Houston's manager, 'the kind that sticks with
you for awhile.'

First baseman Miguel Sano hit a grand slam as the Cincinnati Reds defeated the
Colorado Rockies 11 to 3 at Coors Field.
Cincinnati brought 9 runs across the plate in the top of the 6th inning when
they came up with 8 base hits. The biggest moment was provided by Sano who
helped quiet the crowd when he caught a hold of a bad pitch for a Grand Slam
homerun. For the game Cincinnati out-hit Colorado 12 to 7.
The win was credited to Shane Bieber(4-4) who went 8 innings allowing 3 runs.
Chris Sale(1-4) was given the loss. He pitched 5 and 1/3 innings allowing 4
hits and 2 walks.

Brian McCann cracked a homer and had 3 RBI as the Texas Rangers clobbered the
outmatched Cleveland Indians, 12 to 0.
McCann had a good day at the plate. He doubled plating a run in the 3rd
inning, smashed a two-run homer in the 5th inning and doubled in the 7th
inning. Texas kept the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in
6 different innings.
The win went to Rick Porcello(3-3) who allowed no runs in 8 innings. Nick
Margevicius(4-3) was the loser. He allowed 8 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.
The Texas ballclub's record now stands at 15-22. With the loss, the Cleveland
ballclub's record is 22-18.
