Pirates defeated the Cincinnati Reds by a score of 7 to 5 at Great American
Bpk.
Holaday was a one-man wrecking crew. He rifled a three-run blast in the 1st
inning and belted a three-run homer in the 5th inning. Pittsburgh had a
total of 8 hits for the game.
Max Scherzer(7-3) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 5 innings. Kirby
Yates earned his 12th save. Homer Bailey(4-4) was hit with the loss. He
served up 3 gopher balls in 5 innings.

In a great finish the Kansas City Royals came back in the top of the ninth and
held on to win over the Boston Red Sox by a score of 4 to 3 at Fenway
Park.
Kansas City erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 9th inning
with 2 runs. Alex Gordon led off and started the rally when he drew a walk.
Gordon was safe at second on a stolen base. Elvis Andrus then doubled
bringing in a run. One out later, Luis Urias stepped in and he hit a
sacrifice fly scoring the final run of the inning. Kansas City won despite
being out-hit by Boston 10 hits to 5.
Jake Newberry(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Newberry got help from Tanner Rainey who earned his 4th
save. Marcus Walden(0-1) took the loss in relief.
Boston's manager was not very talkative after his team's tough loss. 'I'm not
in the mood for questions, but I'm sure Kansas City's manager will be glad to
talk about the game as long as you have questions to ask.'

Jose Abreu had 4 hits as the Seattle Mariners defeated the ice-cold Detroit
Tigers 7 to 3 at Comerica Park.
Aaron Nola(4-1) pitched okay, well enough for the win. He went 5 and 1/3
innings allowing 7 hits and 1 walk. Nola chalked up 7 strikeouts. Seattle
had 11 hits for the afternoon while Detroit had 7.
The loss was charged to Dillon Peters(0-3). He surrendered 4 runs and 6 hits
in 4 innings.

The San Francisco Giants were certainly pleased to stop the bleeding as their
5 game losing streak was finally halted and and the Milwaukee Brewers locked
up in an exciting one-run game at Miller Park. The final score was the San
Francisco Giants 2, the Milwaukee Brewers 1.
San Francisco won the game with a rally in the 8th inning plating 2 runs.
Daniel Descalso led off and started the attack as he drew a walk. Tim
Locastro was next and he was hit by a pitch. Jorge Polanco then drew a walk
to load the bases. Jake Bauers followed and he drew a walk plating a run.
Bryan Reynolds stepped into the box and hit a sacrifice fly scoring the final
run of the inning. Milwaukee threatened in the 9th but San Francisco was
able to put down the rally.
Yimi Garcia(2-4) went 2 innings allowing no runs for the win. Garcia got help
from Tyler Rogers who was credited with his 2nd save. Brad Keller(3-7) ended
up with the loss. He allowed just 2 runs and 1 hit in 7 innings.
'We really needed this win' said San Francisco's manager. 'That first drink
of water at the end of a drought sure does taste good!'

Danny Santana cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Tropicana Field where the
Toronto Blue Jays beat the Tampa Bay Rays by the score of 9 to 2.
The Tampa Bay fans didn't appreciate the big day Santana had. He lifted one
out of the park for a two run home run in the 3rd inning, delivered a single
in the 5th inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 7th inning. Toronto
finished with 16 hits while Tampa Bay ended up with 4.
Matt Boyd(9-3) went 8 innings allowing 2 runs for the victory. Nick
Anderson(1-6) was the loser in relief. The Toronto ballclub's record now
stands at 35-22. Tampa Bay, which had been on a roll, saw their record drop
to 40-19.

The Miami Marlins came roaring back in the top of the ninth to spoil the
anticipated celebration of the hometown fans. The final score,, was 16 to
7.
An offensive explosion by Miami in the top of the 9th inning ended any Chicago
(NL) hopes for a victory as they showed no mercy on Chicago (NL) blasting
them for 5 hits and plating 12 runs. The key offensive moment was provided
by Lourdes Gurriel who deflated the crowd as he clubbed a three-run home run.
Miami kept the scorekeepers busy in the 9th inning which saw them plate 12
runs on 5 hits. Miami finished with 11 hits in the victory.
Austin Brice(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 3 innings. Rowan Wick(1-2)
suffered the loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty good, giving up 5
runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.
'We just kept swinging the bats and didn't give up,' Juan Soto said. 'If you
just keep trying good things can happen!'

Colorado Rockies broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a 3 to
2 win over the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
Colorado won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. After an out
was recorded, Trevor Story blasted a solo shot resulting in a mighty exciting
win for Colorado and the 20,532 home town fans in attendance. Overall
Colorado out-hit Los Angeles(NL) 8 to 5.
Sam Dyson(6-4) allowed no runs in 1 inning, and picked up the victory. Greg
Holland(0-1) ended up with the loss in relief. The winning ways continue for
Colorado. They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. With the loss, the
Los Angeles(NL) ballclub's record is 25-30.

Blackmon enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He lost the ball over the fence for
three runs in the 5th inning and doubled scoring a run in the 7th inning.
This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead changed hands 6
times.
The victory went to Lucas Sims(2-1) who went 2/3 of an inning, allowing 1 run.
Leclerc gained credit for his 1st save. Tyler Olson(0-1) was charged with
