The Cincinnati fans didn't appreciate the big day Meadows had. He ripped a
one-base hit in the 1st inning, delivered a single in the 2nd inning,
delivered a solo blast in the 7th inning and ripped a solo home run in the
9th inning. Pittsburgh out-hit Cincinnati for the game, 11 hits to 2.
Greinke(6-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing no
runs. Anthony Desclafani(1-6) was charged with the loss. He was a hard-luck
loser, pitching 5 innings and not allowing an earned run.

Bellinger enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He lofted a solo-blast
'downtown' in the 2nd inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 5th inning.
Detroit out-hit Seattle 13 to 10, but Seattle ended up with more runs.
The win went to Lance Lynn(6-1) who allowed 5 runs in 8 innings. Shane Greene
preserved the game for Lynn, recording his his 11th save. Edwin Jackson(2-6)
was hit with the loss. He couldn't find the plate, issuing 5 walks in 2 and
2/3 innings.
This win by Seattle continues their recent hot streak. In their last ten
games, they have a record of 9-1. For the season, they are a division
leading 40-17. Still in a bad slump, with this loss, Detroit is 0-10 lately
and 20-35, worst in the division on the year.

Yu Darvish struck out 13 batters as the Tampa Bay Rays topped the Toronto Blue

Darvish(7-4) was simply too much for the Toronto batters. He was stingy on
the mound, allowing just 1 hit and no walks in 8 innings lowering his ERA to
3.44. Tampa Bay had a total of 7 hits for the game.
The losing pitcher was Marcus Stroman(4-4). Toronto's manager was upset after
the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike
zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way
it's printed in the rule book.'

Marcus Semien left the yard at SunTrust Park as the Atlanta Braves beat the

Atlanta brought 4 runs across the plate in the 7th inning when they had 3 base
hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by D.J. Lemahieu who made the crowd
happy when he doubled plating two runs. Despite losing, St. Louis out-hit
Atlanta 12 to 9.
The victory went to Alex Colome(3-2) who went 3 innings, allowing no runs.
Jack Flaherty(4-3) took the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 8 hits in 6 and
1/3 innings.

The Milwaukee fans enjoyed the offense provided by Longoria. He lined a
base-hit in the 2nd inning, lifted one out of the park for a two run home run
in the 5th inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 7th
inning. San Francisco had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up
short.
John Means(8-3) went 6 innings allowing 5 runs for the victory. Means got help
from Taylor Williams who was credited with his 1st save. Asher
Wojciechowski(2-7) absorbed the loss. Milwaukee knocked him around a bit, as
he gave up 6 runs in 4 innings.
Longoria was jubilant after the game 'Let me see a box-score' he joked, 'I
want to see how that game looks on paper.'

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Olson. He laced a base-hit in the 2nd inning, doubled in the 3rd

run in the 7th inning. Overall Colorado out-hit Los Angeles(NL) 9 to 6.
The win was credited to Strasburg(6-0) who went 8 innings allowing no runs.
Jordan Zimmermann(1-4) suffered the loss. He allowed a few too many
baserunners giving up 7 hits and 2 walks in 4 innings.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Strasburg - except Los
Angeles(NL). Los Angeles(NL)'s manager lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight.
He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good
strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately
we were the visitors!'

Chatwood(3-2) finally bested his San Diego opposite, Tommy Milone(4-3), by

Arizona took the lead for keeps in the top of the 5th inning scoring a single
run. San Diego threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Aroldis Chapman earned the save, his 12th. Milone was given the loss. He
allowed just 1 hit and no walks in 6 innings.

When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Buehler offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up

Gio Urshela connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI and Sonny Gray whiffed 12
batters as the Oakland Athletics rallied impressively to win in dramatic
style over Houston Astros, 4 to 3.
Oakland had the winning rally in the top of the 9th inning scoring 2 runs on 2
base hits. Joey Wendle kicked off the action when he stroked a base-hit.
Nick Ahmed got his chance to keep things going, but he went down on strikes.
Wendle was running on the next pitch and he stole second. After another out,
Josh James was wild with a pitch. Urshela came up to bat and cleared the
fences for a two-run home run. Oakland ended up with 10 hits for the game
while Houston had 2.
Ian Kennedy(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing 1
run. Kennedy got help from Trevor May who earned his 3rd save. James(1-1)
was given the loss in relief.
'The only way this one could have been better', said Kennedy, 'was if we had
played it at home.'
