The Chicago (AL) White Sox nipped the Baltimore Orioles 4 to 3 at Camden Yards
in a hard fought contest.
Jose Urena(4-3) earned his pay with a solid performance for Chicago (AL). He
was reached for 5 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings reducing his ERA from
5.31 to 4.93. Baltimore made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to
push the needed runs across.
Urena got help from Aaron Bummer who earned his 2nd save. Zach Davies(1-6)
took the loss. With this win, Chicago (AL) has a 26-28 record. They have
been 6-4 lately. Baltimore can't seem to snap out of their recent 'funk'.
Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over the last couple weeks.

The Miami Marlins defeated the slumping Washington Nationals by a score of 6
to 3 at Nationals Park.
Miami delivered all the runs required in the 5th inning when they came up with
6 runs on 5 hits. The big moment was provided by Scott Kingery who quieted
the crowd when he laced a base-hit bringing in two baserunners. Miami had 8
hits for the afternoon.
Domingo German(5-1) allowed 3 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory.
Casey Sadler earned his 7th save. A.J. Cole(0-2) was the loser in relief.
He surrendered 3 hits and 1 walk in 1/3 of an inning.

Left fielder Joc Pederson launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Yankee Stadium
where the New York (AL) Yankees beat the Seattle Mariners by the score of 8
to 5.
Pederson enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He cracked a two-run shot in the
1st inning, clubbed a solo home run in the 5th inning and doubled in the 6th
inning. New York (AL) rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.
Gio Gonzalez(3-5) picked up the victory, allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Richard
Bleier was credited with his 3rd save. Yusmeiro Petit(1-3) was hit with the
loss in relief.
'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially
sweet' offered New York (AL)'s manager. Now, we just have to make this the

In a two run game the Tampa Bay Rays got by the reeling Detroit Tigers by the
score of 3 to 1.
Trevor Gott(2-0) got the win with a steady relief outing. He surrendered 3
hits and 1 walk in 3 and 1/3 innings lowering his ERA to 1.89. Tampa Bay had
only 6 hits for the game.
Gott got relief help from Jesus Luzardo who gained credit for his 1st save.
Blake Parker(1-6) ended up with the loss in relief.

Brock Holt left the yard as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Atlanta
Braves 6 to 0 at SunTrust Park.
Zac Gallen(5-2) had a solid outing for St. Louis. He went 5 innings
surrendering 6 hits and 1 walk seeing his ERA drop from 4.93 to 4.44. St.
Louis totaled 11 hits on the afternoon.
Charlie Morton(5-4) suffered the loss. He was unable to retire a batter and
surrendered 4 hits and 1 walk.

Joey Votto cleared the bases with his grand slam at PNC Park as the Pittsburgh
Pirates beat the San Francisco Giants by the count of 12 to 3.
Votto made sure the Pittsburgh fans enjoyed themselves. He stroked a base-hit
in the 1st inning, ripped a one-base hit in the 3rd inning and caught a hold
of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun in the 6th inning. For the game
Pittsburgh out-hit San Francisco 15 to 5.
The victory was credited to Andrew Heaney(3-0) who went 7 innings, allowing 3
runs. Zach Eflin(5-4) was tagged with the loss. He allowed 5 runs and 7 hits
in 5 innings.

The Cincinnati Reds got by the San Diego Padres at Great American Bpk. The
final score was 6 to 4.
Jonathan Villar enjoyed a big day at the plate. He popped a two-run clout
over the fence in the 2nd inning and tripled which brought home a run in the
8th inning. San Diego threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Felipe Vazquez(2-1) went 2 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Matt
Magill(2-3) took the loss in relief. He was not very effective, surrendering
3 runs in 2 innings.

Brandon Woodruff(6-7) contributed a pedestrian performance to earn the win.

2 'round-trippers'. Los Angeles(NL) had 14 hits for the afternoon while
Colorado had 6.
Woodruff got help from Joel Kuhnel who was credited with his 1st save. J.A.
Happ(4-5) ended up with the loss. He allowed 4 runs and 8 hits in 4 and 2/3
innings.

and counting. 'We've really come alive lately,' Oakland's manager said. 'We
