Stephen Piscotty had 4 hits and scored 3 times at Nationals Park where the
Miami Marlins beat the slumping Washington Nationals by the score of 6 to
4.
Miami had the winning rally in the 9th inning with 2 runs on 2 base hits.
After an out was recorded, Robinson Cano keyed the rally when he drew a walk.
Piscotty came next and he doubled. Adam Haseley then reached on an error
bringing in a run. Francisco Cervelli followed, but he was set down on
strikes. Josh Naylor stepped into the box and slapped a one-base hit scoring
the final run of the inning. For the game Miami out-hit Washington 14 to 8.
J.D. Hammer(3-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 inning. Casey Sadler
earned his 5th save. Jalen Beeks(3-2) was the losing pitcher in relief. It
was a tough loss for him as he did not allow an earned run in his 1 inning of
work.

The Seattle Mariners easily topped the New York (AL) Yankees; the final score
was 6 to 1.
New York (AL) fell behind quickly as the Seattle offense came through in the
first inning scoring a single run on 2 hits. Ozzie Albies doubled. Masahiro
Tanaka then uncorked a wild one that found its way to the backstop.
Christian Yelich then doubled scoring the run. Both teams ended up with 10
hits on the night.
Lance Lynn(5-1) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 1 run for the victory.
Tanaka(2-4) absorbed the loss. He was knocked around, surrendering 6 runs in
5 and 2/3 innings.
Seattle won for the 6th straight time. 'We're running on all cylinders now',
said Seattle's manager. 'I probably shouldn't change a thing and let the
guys continue to put up the wins.'

Asher Wojciechowski(2-6) and Zack Greinke(5-4) treated the Pittsburgh fans to
a fine pitching duel at PNC Park. The San Francisco Giants eventually
emerged as victors over the Pittsburgh Pirates by the score of 3 to
1.
Wojciechowski gave San Francisco a solid outing. He went 6 and 1/3 innings
surrendering 4 hits and 4 walks lowering his ERA from 5.18 to 4.69. Overall
San Francisco out-hit Pittsburgh 8 to 4.
Wojciechowski got relief help from Robert Stephenson who gained credit for his
3rd save.

Matt Boyd retired 15 batters on strikeouts at Rogers Centre where the Toronto
Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 3 to 2.
Boyd(8-3) put on a good performance. He gave up just 6 hits and no walks in 8
innings seeing his ERA drop from 3.76 to 3.49. Baltimore threatened in the
9th but Toronto was able to put down the rally.
Boyd got help from Roberto Osuna who earned his 8th save. The loss was
charged to Mike Minor(5-6). Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Boyd
- except Baltimore. Baltimore's manager lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight.
He was keeping our guys off balance all game. A fine game by a good
strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun game for the hometown fans - unfortunately
we were the visitors!'
TAMPA BAY AT DETROIT

Yu Darvish reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts and Willson Contreras smashed 2
homeruns and had 4 RBI at Comerica Park as the Tampa Bay Rays beat the
reeling Detroit Tigers by the count of 13 to 4.
Contreras had a big day against Detroit. He bombed a two-run dinger in the
5th inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 9th inning. Tampa Bay kept
the pressure on throughout the contest as they scored in 6 different innings.
Darvish(6-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 4
runs. Mike Montgomery(2-2) suffered the loss. He was touched for 5 homeruns
in his 4 innings of work.
'Everything felt great' Darvish said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could
throw it by everybody tonight.'

Vince Velasquez carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Boston Red Sox
defeated the Houston Astros by the score of 6 to 3 at Fenway
Park.
Velasquez(3-3) gave a fine effort for Boston. He went 5 and 2/3 innings and
surrended up 2 hits and 2 walks. Velasquez whiffed an impressive total of 6
Houston batters. The right-handed Velasquez lost his no-hit bid when Melky
Cabrera homered with nobody out in the 6th inning. Boston ended up with 13
hits for the game while Houston had 3.
Kyle Gibson(2-6) was given the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing 10 hits
and 3 walks in 4 innings.

Center fielder Starling Marte had 4 hits and 3 RBI and Tommy Milone went 6
strong innings at Great American Bpk as the streaking San Diego Padres beat
the Cincinnati Reds 9 to 2.
The Cincinnati fans didn't appreciate the big day Marte had. He laced a
base-knock in the 1st inning, doubled in the 3rd inning, ripped a one-base
hit in the 4th inning and lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 5th inning.
San Diego had 12 hits for the night while Cincinnati had 4.
Milone(4-2) went 6 innings allowing no runs for the win. Cody Allen earned the
save, his 2nd. Anthony Desclafani(1-5) was hit with the loss. He allowed a
few too many baserunners giving up 10 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 2/3 innings.
San Diego extended their winning streak to 7 games.

Third baseman Adeiny Hechavarria blasted 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI at SunTrust
Park where the Atlanta Braves beat the New York (NL) Mets by the score of 12

Hechavarria really 'lit it up' for Atlanta. He blasted a two-run home run in
the 4th inning, lined a one-base hit in the 6th inning and belted a three-run
homer in the 6th inning. New York (NL) was out-hit by Atlanta, 17 hits to
14.
Kyle Hendricks(5-3) allowed 3 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Gabriel Ynoa(2-2) was charged with the loss in relief. Atlanta
scored big getting 10 runs off him in 2 innings.
Atlanta continued their winnings ways improving their record to a division
leading 33-19. They are 8-2 in their last ten games. With the loss, New
York (NL) has a record of 6-4 lately, 23-28 overall.

crowd when he popped a two-run clout over the fence. Kansas City was out-hit

Marshall recorded his 4th save. Jordan Zimmermann(1-3) was the losing
pitcher.
'It's almost like the ball was trying to hit my bat,' Muncy said. 'Whenever I
would swing, the ball found the sweet spot.'
