In a close game the St. Louis Cardinals got by the slumping Philadelphia
Phillies by the score of 6 to 4.
Howie Kendrick provided the offensive punch. He doubled bringing in a run in
the 1st inning and rifled a three-run blast in the 3rd inning. St. Louis
managed 10 hits in their victory.
The win went to Zac Gallen(4-1) who allowed 2 runs in 5 innings. Brandon
Workman preserved the game for Gallen, recording his his 8th save. Joey
Lucchesi(4-3) was charged with the loss. St. Louis scored big getting 6 runs
off him in 5 innings.
Wth the win St. Louis now has a record of 25-20. Philadelphia can't seem to
snap out of their recent 'funk'. Now they have a miserable 2-8 record over
the last couple weeks.

At Citi Field the New York (NL) Mets outscored the Pittsburgh Pirates in 10
innings 6 to 3.
Both teams were tied at 3 runs apiece after nine innings. New York (NL) won
the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, David
Dahl began the New York (NL) spurt when he delivered a base-hit. Pete Alonso
was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim. Dahl was running on the next
pitch and he stole second. Yasiel Puig followed and he was walked
intentionally. Kyle Seager came up to bat and smacked a three-run homer
resulting in an exciting win for New York (NL) and a raucous post-game
celebration by the home town fans. New York (NL) out-hit Pittsburgh for the
game, 10 hits to 6.
Matt Bowman(1-0) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1/3 of an inning.
Matt Strahm(0-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an
inning giving up 2 hits and 1 walk.
With this win, New York (NL) has a 18-26 record. They have been 5-5 lately.
With the loss, the Pittsburgh ballclub's record is 22-21.

Brad Keller struck out 10 batters at Great American Bpk as the Milwaukee
Brewers beat the Cincinnati Reds by the count of 7 to 2.
Keller(2-6) earned his pay with a solid performance for Milwaukee. He was
reached for 5 hits and 4 walks in 8 innings. Both teams ended up with 7 hits
on the night.
Keller got relief help from James Hoyt who gained credit for his 1st save.
Anthony Desclafani(1-4) took the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 4 and
2/3 innings.
Keller, when asked about his 10 strikeout performance noted, 'The important
thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team?
But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'

Stephen Strasburg reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts as the Colorado Rockies
beat the Miami Marlins in 10 innings by a score of 7 to 2.
Both teams had scored 2 runs after nine full innings. Colorado came out the
victor in the 10th inning. Colorado had 8 hits for the game and Miami had 5.
Sam Dyson(5-4) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Tyler Webb(0-2)
suffered the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 3 hits without retiring a
batter.

First baseman Rhys Hoskins had 3 base hits and 4 RBI and James Paxton had a
strong outing as the Tampa Bay Rays bested the Baltimore Orioles 8 to 0 at
Tropicana Field.
Paxton(4-2) was tremendous on the mound for Tampa Bay. He didn't allow much,
just 2 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Tampa Bay had 9 hits for the night
while Baltimore had 2.
The losing pitcher was Zach Davies(1-5). He gave up 4 hits and 2 walks in 4
and 2/3 innings. Tampa Bay remained hot, improving their record to 30-17.
They now have a record of 8-2 in recent days. Baltimore's manager was
unhappy with his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he
said. 'It gets to be embarrassing after a while.'

16,370 fans were treated to a fine game at Kauffman Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Kansas City Royals won by the
slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Finally, Kansas City
pulled the game out in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Buster
Posey started the rally when he ripped a single. Alex Gordon next to the
plate and he drew a walk. Elvis Andrus then ripped a one-base hit to load
the bases. Corey Dickerson stepped in and he doubled making Kansas City
victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Kansas City totaled 11
hits on the night.
The win was credited to Juan Nicasio(1-1) who went 1/3 of an inning allowing
no runs. Shawn Armstrong(0-1) absorbed the loss in relief. He was unable to
retire a batter and surrendered no hits and 1 walk.

topped the Boston Red Sox by the slimmest of margins, 5 to 4.

Cameron Maybin stroked a base-hit. Todd Frazier came next and he laced a
single. Two outs later Brian McCann came to the plate and was walked
intentionally to load the bases. Rougned Odor was up next and he drew a walk
resulting in an exciting win for Texas and a wild post-game celebration by
the home town fans. Texas had 13 hits for the night.
Ryan Buchter(1-1) was the winner allowing no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings. J.B.
Wendelken(5-3) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 3 hits and 2

on 2 base hits. That early scoring held up. Chicago (AL) rapped out 11 hits
for the night.
Cease(4-2) got the win allowing no runs in 7 innings. Aaron Brooks(2-3) took
the loss. He surrendered 5 runs and 8 hits in 6 innings.

Arizona wasted no time and took the lead in the first inning when they tallied
3 runs on 1 hit. The big moment was provided by Eloy Jimenez who made the
crowd happy when he launched a three-run homer. Arizona had just 6 hits for
the night.
The win went to Carlos Martinez(1-2) who allowed no runs in 2 innings. The
losing pitcher was Reynaldo Lopez(1-6). He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 6 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.

Jurickson Profar blasted a solo shot resulting in an exciting win for San
Diego and a wild post-game celebration by the home town fans. Chicago (NL)
out-hit San Diego 13 to 7, but San Diego ended up with more runs.
The win was credited to Matt Andriese(1-1) who went 1 inning allowing no runs.
Chris Martin(2-2) was tagged with the loss in relief. He allowed 2 hits and

Lance Lynn carried a no-hitter into the 8th inning and Wilson Ramos jacked one
out of the ballyard as the Seattle Mariners topped the Detroit Tigers by a
score of 6 to 1 at T-Mobile Park.
Lynn(4-1) escaped virtually unscathed against the Detroit hitters. He allowed
just 1 hit and 2 walks in 8 innings. Lynn recorded 11 strikeouts reducing
his ERA from 3.63 to 3.32. The right-handed Lynn lost his no-hit bid when
Christin Stewart doubled with two outs in the 8th inning. Seattle managed 12
hits in their victory.
Mike Montgomery(2-1) was the losing pitcher. When asked about his strikeout
total for the game, Lynn offered, 'The fan's really got into it. It is fun
to see them tally up the strikeout totals up there in the stands.
Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it would be all for naught
without the 'W'.'

inning. Atlanta had 15 hits for the night while San Francisco had 4.
The win went to Charlie Morton(4-3) who allowed no runs in 8 innings. Asher
Wojciechowski(1-6) was the loser. He was knocked around by Atlanta, allowing

Roark was helped out by Adam Cimber who recorded his 4th save. Price took the

Angeles(AL) Angels won in their last at-bat beating the Oakland Athletics by

inning. Ronald Acuna drew a walk. Acuna got a great jump and stole second
easily. Shohei Ohtani then delivered a one-base hit. Kole Calhoun stepped
in and he smacked a single making Los Angeles(AL) the winners and sending the

had 9.
