In a game at Great American Bpk the Miami Marlins were finally were able to
get back on the winner's track and got by the Cincinnati Reds by the score of
6 to 3.
Miami scored 4 runs in the 7th inning. The crucial at-bat was provided by
Josh Naylor who silenced the crowd when he cleared the bases with a Grand
Slam homerun. Miami had only 6 hits for the night.
Domingo German(4-1) went 6 innings allowing 3 runs for the victory. Casey
Sadler recorded the save, his 4th. The losing pitcher was Justin
Verlander(5-3). Despite the loss, he struckout 11 Miami batters in 6 and 2/3

utilizing 2 base hits. Philadelphia had 9 hits in the game while Los
Angeles(NL) had 6, but Los Angeles(NL) had the more timely hits.
The win went to Yoan Lopez(3-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Blake Treinen got the save, his 4th. Trevor Bauer(4-4) absorbed the loss.

Randal Grichuk went yard at Comerica Park as the Detroit Tigers beat the

Detroit jumped on top to stay in the 2nd inning scoring 2 runners on 3 hits.
The biggest moment was provided by Christin Stewart who made the crowd happy
when he popped a two-run clout over the fence. Minnesota threatened in the
9th but Detroit was able to put down the rally.
Edwin Jackson(2-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 3 runs. Blake Parker preserved the game for Jackson, recording his
his 5th save. The loss was charged to Jake Junis(2-6). He got hammered,
allowing 8 hits and 4 walks in 5 and 2/3 innings.
Minnesota's manager was clearly disappointed after the game. 'It was a
manager's nightmare out there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'

The Tampa Bay Rays and the New York (AL) Yankees locked up in an exciting
one-run game at Tropicana Field. The final score was the Tampa Bay Rays 5,
the New York (AL) Yankees 4 in 10 innings.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Tampa Bay was
victorious in the 10th inning. Jose Altuve led off and started the rally
when he drew a walk. Ketel Marte stepped into the batter's box and he drew a
walk. Eugenio Suarez was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out.
Rhys Hoskins came up and he drew a walk to load the bases. Ian Happ stepped
into the box and hit a deep fly bringing in a run. Willson Contreras kept
things alive and banged out a single making Tampa Bay the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful. Tampa Bay had 7 hits for the night.
The winning pitcher was Amir Garrett(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an
inning. Sal Romano(1-2) took the loss in relief. He was unable to retire a
batter allowing no hits and 2 walks.
Tampa Bay now has a record of 27-17. New York (AL)'s manager was unhappy with
his club's recent performance. 'We can't keep losing games' he said. 'It
gets to be embarrassing after a while.'

Mike Clevinger mowed down 14 Boston batters and D.J. Lemahieu collected 2

The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Lemahieu. He smacked a single which was good for two runs in the
1st inning, doubled scoring a run in the 3rd inning and tripled bringing home
two baserunners in the 8th inning. Atlanta out-hit Boston for the game, 12
hits to 7.
Clevinger(7-1) allowed 3 runs in 8 innings, and picked up the victory. Hector
Velazquez(1-5) was given the loss. He couldn't find the plate, issuing 5
walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.
Clevinger was jubilant in the hometown clubhouse, 'It was a lot of fun out
there. The fans gave me a lot of support as did my teammates. We got the
victory and I'll sure take 14 strikeouts anytime!'

inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 8th inning. The
Texas offense smacked the Toronto pitching staff around, scoring in 7 of the
9 innings.
Rick Porcello(4-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing
no runs. The loss was charged to Matt Boyd(6-3). He served up 3 gopher balls
in 3 and 2/3 innings.
With this win, Texas has a 16-26 record. They have been 3-7 lately. The loss
by Toronto interrupted a nice 8-2 recent run.
