In a thrilling finish the Miami Marlins won in dramatic fashion coming back to
beat the Pittsburgh Pirates by the count of 4 to 2.
Miami scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning with 3 runs on 2
hits. After an out was recorded, Stephen Piscotty was the sparkplug when he
lined a one-base hit. Raimel Tapia was a strikeout victim, unable to help
out. Brian Anderson then drew a walk. Juan Soto followed and he lofted a
three-run bomb making Miami the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Both teams totaled 6 hits on the night.
J.D. Hammer(2-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. The losing
pitcher was Kirby Yates(1-1) in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 2 hits in 2/3
of an inning.
Hammer and Piscotty were really whooping it up in the clubhouse after the
great come from behind victory. As Miami's manager noted, 'A win like this
one can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone shares in the joy - the
fans, the players - even you guys - it's better than winning by a dozen
runs!'

4 base hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Matt Duffy who made
the crowd come alive when he lashed a single bringing home two baserunners.
After the 4th inning, neither team was able to score.
The winning pitcher was Tanner Rainey(2-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 1/3
innings. Hector Rondon preserved the game for Rainey, recording his his 1st
save. Edwin Jackson(1-4) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around

allowing no runs. Duffy got help from Austin Voth who earned his 2nd save.

'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some

his ERA to 3.63. For the game Seattle out-hit Houston 9 to 6.
C.C. Sabathia(0-5) took the loss. The Seattle fans were thrilled by the
performance put forth by Rodriguez, but it was clearly his strikeouts that
they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10 strikeouts the fans showed him their
appreciation with a loud cheer.' Seattle's manager said following the game.

The Cleveland Indians nipped the ice-cold San Francisco Giants in 13 innings 7
to 6 at Progressive Field in a hard fought contest.
Both teams were tied at 6 runs apiece after nine innings. Cleveland won the
game in the 13th inning. Andrew Benintendi hit a bases-empty home run giving
Cleveland the win much to the delight of the home town crowd. San Francisco
out-hit Cleveland 11 to 8, but Cleveland ended up with more runs.
The win went to Wandy Peralta(1-0) who allowed no runs in 1 inning. Josh
Osich(1-1) was tagged with the loss in relief. He pitched 3 innings and
surrendered just 1 hit and no walks.
Aramis Garcia launched 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI but his offense was not enough
to carry San Francisco to victory.

the 5th inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 6th inning. Oakland
bats were very productive in the 5th inning with 6 runs on 5 hits. Oakland
simply wore out the Tampa Bay pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
The win went to Eric Lauer(3-2) who allowed 1 run in 6 innings. Blake
Snell(1-3) took the loss. He was touched for 8 hits and 3 walks in 4
innings.
