Michael Conforto had 2 base hits as the Cincinnati Reds topped the floundering
Miami Marlins by a score of 5 to 4 at Great American Bpk.
Cincinnati took the lead for good in the 4th inning as they scored 2 runs on 1
base hits. Miami made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push
the needed runs across.
Homer Bailey(4-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 6 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 2 runs. Bailey got relief help from Felipe Vazquez who gained credit
for his 6th save. Ranger Suarez(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He
gave up 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings of work.
'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Miami's manager 'But we
have to get over it and get ready for the next game.'

Adam Duvall smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Milwaukee Brewers beat the
Chicago (NL) Cubs by a score of 5 to 3.
Duvall provided the offensive punch. He lofted a three-run bomb in the 1st
inning and ripped a solo home run in the 6th inning. Joe Smith pitched a
perfect ninth to earn his 4th save.
Luke Weaver(5-2) allowed 3 runs in 5 innings, and picked up the victory. Mike
Fiers(1-2) was given the loss. He surrended 3 homeruns in his 5 and 2/3
innings.
'I just wanted to give my team a chance to win.' said Weaver, 'I got burned on
a couple of pitches. But we won the game, and that's all that matters.'

The Pittsburgh Pirates had very little trouble at PNC Park downing the St.
Louis Cardinals. The score was 7 to 2.
Archie Bradley(2-0) got the win with a steady relief outing. He allowed 1 hit
and no walks in 2/3 of an inning improving his ERA from 4.38 to 4.15.
Pittsburgh had a total of 7 hits for the game.
Kirby Yates recorded his 8th save. The losing pitcher was Cam Bedrosian(0-3)
in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an inning giving up 1 hit and 2 walks.

Mallex Smith hit for the cycle and had 4 RBI as the Detroit Tigers won in
dramatic fashion over the Minnesota Twins by a score of 8 to 7 at Comerica
Park.
Detroit had the winning rally in the 9th inning scoring 3 runs utilizing 4
base hits. Lorenzo Cain led off and started the rally when he ripped a
base-knock. James McCann next to the plate and he doubled. Nelson Cruz
followed, but he was set down on strikes. Yan Gomes was up next and he
delivered a one-base hit scoring a single run. Hansel Robles then threw a
wild pitch scoring another baseruner. One out later, Tim Beckham came to bat
and was walked intentionally. Smith followed and he doubled resulting in a
mighty exciting win for Detroit and the 13,665 home town fans in attendance.
The score went back-and-forth with the lead changing 6 times.
The victory was credited to Luis Cessa(3-3) who went 2 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 1 run. Robles(0-3) took the loss in relief. He gave up 3 runs and 4
hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.
'Now there is a lesson in perseverance for you,' Smith noted. 'It was looking
pretty dim there for a while, but we just kept plugging away and it really
paid off in spades! And it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the
end!'

In a startling finish the New York (AL) Yankees staged a comeback then held on
to win over the Tampa Bay Rays by a score of 5 to 3 at Tropicana Field.
New York (AL) won the game with a rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 3
runs on 3 base hits. Gary Sanchez got things going when he banged out a
single. Two outs later Tyler Wade stepped in and he stroked a single. Wade
took second on the throw. Kevin Newman then rifled a three-run blast. New
York (AL) had 11 hits for the night.
The win went to Richard Bleier(1-0) who allowed no runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
Adam Conley(0-2) ended up with the loss in relief. He pitched 2/3 of an
inning and surrendered 1 hit and no walks.
'New York (AL)'s manager was estatic following the game, 'You love stealing
one on the road like this. We just kept plugging away until we pulled it
out!'

Anthony Rizzo blasted a homerun and had 3 RBI at Globe Life Park as the
Toronto Blue Jays beat the Texas Rangers by the count of 10 to 6.
Toronto jumped on top to stay in the top of the 3rd inning plating an isolated
run on 2 base hits. For the game Toronto out-hit Texas 16 to 10.
Marcus Stroman(3-3) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 6 innings.
Madison Bumgarner(5-5) suffered the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 8 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings.

Yordan Alvarez rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Houston Astros bested
the Kansas City Royals 12 to 7 at Minute Maid Park.
Alvarez helped send the fans home happy. He hit a bases-empty home run in the
1st inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 4th inning. Kansas City was
out-hit by Houston, 15 hits to 12.
The win was credited to C.C. Sabathia(2-5) who went 5 innings allowing 6 runs.
Sabathia got help from Jose Urquidy who was credited with his 1st save.
Dylan Bundy(3-5) was tagged with the loss. He served up 5 gopher balls in 3
and 2/3 innings.
Shortstop Jean Segura knocked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI but his offense was not
enough to carry Kansas City to victory.

The Colorado fans enjoyed the offense provided by Olson. He blasted a solo
shot in the 2nd inning and doubled plating two runs in the 5th inning. San
Francisco tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Mike Soroka(7-0) went 7 innings allowing 6 runs for the victory. Kolby
Allard(3-3) was the loser. Colorado knocked him around a bit, as he gave up
6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

when they scored 2 runs on 2 hits. The critical plate appearance was by
Swanson who disappointed the partisan crowd when he stroked a one-base hit
scoring two baserunners. New York (NL) and Arizona each finished the night
with 7 hits.
Cole Hamels(2-3) was the winner allowing 3 runs in 6 innings. Gabriel Ynoa
earned the save, his 1st. Kenta Maeda(5-2) was tagged with the loss.

recorded, David Fletcher clubbed a solo home run. Washington out-hit Los
Angeles(AL) 8 to 5, but Los Angeles(AL) ended up with more runs.
Zack Britton was credited with his 6th save. Los Angeles(AL) continued on
their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 6 games and counting.

In a good matchup it was the Chicago (AL) White Sox 6, the San Diego Padres 3
in 11 innings at PETCO Park.
The game was deadlocked at 3 after nine full innings. Chicago (AL) came out
the victor in the 11th inning. Harold Ramirez led off the inning for Chicago
(AL) when he laced a single. Adam Engel next to the plate and he slapped a
base-hit. Cesar Hernandez then drew a walk to load the bases. Trey Mancini
was next to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Paul Goldschmidt dug
into the batters box next, but he struck out. Jose Ramirez contributed to
the rally and doubled clearing the bases. Chicago (AL) out-hit San Diego for
the game, 17 hits to 6.
The victory went to Aaron Bummer(2-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Taylor Rogers recorded the save, his 8th. Colten Brewer(0-1) took the
loss in relief.
