Danny Duffy reeled off a total of 11 strikeouts and shortstop Xander Bogaerts
knocked 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Los Angeles(AL) Angels clobbered the
outmatched ice-cold Baltimore Orioles, 13 to 1.
Bogaerts propelled Los Angeles(AL) to victory. He launched a three-run homer
in the 2nd inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 7th inning and smashed a
solo-shot out of the park in the 8th inning. Los Angeles(AL) had 10 hits
overall, while Baltimore had 3.
Duffy(4-2) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 1 run.
David Hess(1-4) was hit with the loss. He served up 3 gopher balls in 6 and

Duffy was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good command of all

Aaron Hicks cracked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Tampa Bay Rays smashed the
overmatched Texas Rangers, 13 to 2.
Hicks enjoyed a great day at the plate. Every time he came up in the latter
innings, the crowd was on their feet cheering. He cracked a solo homerun in
the 4th inning, lined a base-hit in the 5th inning, doubled bringing in two
baserunners in the 6th inning and delivered a solo blast in the 8th inning.
Tampa Bay had many opportunities throughout the game and scored in 6 separate
innings.
The victory was credited to James Paxton(3-2) who went 5 and 2/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Matt Harvey(1-4) was given the loss. He got hammered,
allowing 8 hits and 2 walks in 3 and 2/3 innings.
'It's just about getting in a good hitting position and just going out there
and being prepared,' Hicks said. 'You try to hit in your own capacity and not
do too much. I just try to have a good approach, day after day, game by game,
and pitch by pitch.'

Atlanta jumped out to the early lead in the first inning when they tallied 3
runs on 3 hits. That was all Kyle Hendricks(3-3) needed. Both teams' bats
went to sleep after the 3rd inning with no runs scored after that point.
The loss was charged to Zack Wheeler(4-3). He pitched 1 and 2/3 innings
allowing 6 hits and 3 walks.

2 runs. Kirby Yates preserved the game for Bassitt, recording his his 7th
save. Rich Hill(1-3) absorbed the loss. He was touched for 3 homeruns in

The Houston Astros readily handled Seattle Mariners by a score of 5 to 1 at
Minute Maid Park.
Houston started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the
first plating 2 runs on 3 hits. After two outs Yordan Alvarez jump-started
the rally as he doubled. J.D. Davis stepped up next and he popped a two-run
clout over the fence. That scoring would be all that was needed. After the
4th inning, neither team was able to score.
Kyle Gibson(2-5) went 7 innings allowing 1 run for the win. Aaron Nola(3-1)
was the loser. While he was the losing pitcher, he still struck out 12
batters in 8 innings.
KANSAS CITY AT MINNESOTA

David Price carried a no-hitter into the 6th inning as the Minnesota Twins
defeated the Kansas City Royals by a score of 2 to 1 at Target
Field.
Price(4-3) looked very much in control throughout the day. He gave up just 1
hit and 1 walk in 5 and 2/3 innings. Price recorded 6 strikeouts reducing
his ERA from 4.81 to 4.12. The left-handed Price lost his chance for a
no-hitter when Ryan Braun doubled with two outs in the 6th inning. Kansas
City threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Price got help from Hansel Robles who earned his 12th save. Joe Ross(1-2) was
tagged with the loss. Despite losing, he struckout 6 Minnesota batters in 3
innings.
Kansas City's manager was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts.
If our guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won
that one. That is what really ticks me off!'

pitcher's duel. Dakota Hudson(4-3) finally bested his St. Louis counterpart,

provided by Pete Alonso who helped quiet the crowd when he cracked a two-run
shot. Paul Sewald pitched a perfect ninth to earn his 4th save.
The losing pitcher was Cole. Although losing the contest, he whiffed 17

A hugely decisive outburst by Boston in the 8th inning quieted any New York
(AL) hopes for a victory as they creamed New York (AL) blasting them with 8
runs on 6 hits. The key at-bat was by Sandy Leon who quieted the crowd when
he smacked a three-run homer. New York (AL) was out-hit by Boston, 12 hits
to 9.
John Gant(1-1) allowed 2 runs in 4 innings, and picked up the victory. Nick
Goody(0-4) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 2 walks in 2/3
of an inning.
Wth the win Boston now has a record of 18-24. Not able to get much going in
recent weeks, New York (AL) is 1-9 of late and now has an overall record of
12-28, worst in the division.
